New Delhi Tigers Preview

New Delhi Tigers have made a mixed start to the Delhi Premier T20 League 2026, sitting on two points after two matches with one win and one defeat. Their net run rate of +0.750 keeps them competitive in the early standings.

The campaign began on 1 August with a 19-run loss to West Delhi Lions. The Tigers were restricted to 151 while chasing 170, despite a fighting effort in the middle order. They bounced back strongly the following day, posting 178 for 8 against East Delhi Riders and then restricting the opposition to 129 for 9 to claim a comprehensive 49-run victory.

Batting has been led by opener Lakshay Thareja, who tops the team charts with 91 runs from two innings. He scored only 5 runs in the 1st game but scored 86* off 56 balls in the following game.

Manish Sehrawat has been the standout middle-order contributor with 62 runs, including an impactful 51 in the opening match. Yashjeet has scored 39 runs, while Vaibhav Rawal (35), captain Himmat Singh (28) have also made useful contributions.

With the ball, the attack has been shared effectively. Hrithik Shokeen, Pradyuman Sanan and Laxman each have 3 wickets from two matches and have been the primary wicket-takers. Yashjeet and Rishabh Sharma have chipped in with one wicket apiece.

The bowling unit performed particularly well in the second game, applying pressure throughout and preventing the opposition from building partnerships.

New Delhi Tigers Predicted Playing XI:

Shivam Gupta, Lakshay Thareja, Vaibhav Rawal, Himmat Singh (C), Manish Sehrawat, Parth Bali, Aaryan Sharma (WK), Hrithik Shokeen, Yashjeet, Laxman, Pradyuman Sanan.

Outer Delhi Warriors Preview

Outer Delhi Warriors are still finding their feet in the Delhi Premier League 2026 after playing just one match so far. They currently sit on zero points following a narrow defeat and will look to open their account when they face New Delhi Tigers.

Their only outing came on 2nd August in a rain-reduced contest against Central Delhi Kings. Restricted to a 10-over match, the Warriors posted a competitive 130 for 5. Central Delhi Kings then chased the target successfully, reaching 133 for 6 in 9.5 overs to win by four wickets.

Despite the loss, Outer Delhi Warriors showed positive intent with the bat in the shortened format.

Batting contributions in that sole innings were impressive. Yajas Sharma top-scored with a rapid 39 off 16 balls at a strike rate of 243.75, Mohit Panwar made 37, and Akshay Saini added a useful 31. However, their star opener Priyansh Arya was dismissed for only 4 runs.

Despite that, the aggressive approach produced a healthy scoring rate of 13 runs per over, indicating the side’s potential to post challenging totals when conditions allow a full game.

With the ball, Pratham Saluja and Aman Chaudhary were the most successful with 2 wickets each. Harsh Tyagi and Shivam Sharma each claimed one wicket. The bowling attack managed to take regular wickets but could not prevent the opposition from completing the chase in the truncated match.

Outer Delhi Warriors Predicted Playing XI:

Yajas Sharma, Priyansh Arya, Akshay Saini, Mohit Panwar, Monu Shukla, Dhruv Singh (WK), Shivam Sharma, Harsh Tyagi, Siddhant Sharma (C), Pratham Saluja, Aman Chaudhary.

The pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium is generally batting-friendly with a flat surface, true bounce and short boundaries that encourage aggressive stroke play. Batters can score freely once set, and the quick outfield helps the ball race away. Pacers get some early movement with the new ball, while spinners find grip and turn in the middle overs as the surface slows slightly. The first innings average score at the venue is 173.

Toss: To Bowl

It's a T20 game where the captain would always prefer to bowl first. This is going to be a day game and so far all the day matches have been won by the bowling first team.

New Delhi Tigers are clear favourites. They lead the head-to-head 2-0, sit on one win from two games, and bounced back strongly with a 49-run victory. Lakshay Thareja’s unbeaten 86 and three bowlers with three wickets each give them the edge over Outer Delhi Warriors, who have only one rain-affected loss. Tigers should win this.
