Although much of the cricketing chatter in the UK has already switched to the Ashes, England have one more tour to commplete before they go in search of the urn in Australia next month.
This tour is not far from Australia, across the Tasman sea, in New Zealand where England will take on their hosts in three T20Is followed by three contests of 50-overs each.
Expect the tourists to look to give some game-time to some of their key players who will be in action in Australia next month but also to take these T20Is seriously, with the T20 World Cup only months away.
As for New Zealand, their priority will be to build towards the T20 World Cup as they look to maintain their impressive recent record at ICC events.

Former skipper and experienced batter Kane Williamson is due to return to international cricket in the ODIs later this month but current captain Mitchell Santner has a fine squad of players to select from for this opening game at Hagley Oval.
Not only do the Black Caps have a solid top four which includes Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell, but they also have plenty of runs in their lower-middle order where Santner is joined by James Neesham, Michael Bracewell and Kyle Jamieson.
The latter will also be tough for England to hit away with the ball but may have to play second fiddle to the impressive Matt Henry who has been New Zealand's lead bowler across the last couple of years.
This is a strong group who know the local conditions well.
Rachin Ravindra Total Runs Over 18.5 1.85
Rachin Ravindra missed the last series against Australia due to injury and is ready for this first T20I. Ravindra has had a terrific year in the shortest format, where he has accumulated 212 runs in 5 matches, averaging 42.40. Considering his form this year and him playing in home conditions, Ravindra is a player prop bet for this match.
Tim Seifert Total Runs Over 20.5 1.83
Tim Seifert scored 497 runs in 13 T20I matches in 2025, he is the highest run-scorer for the Kiwi's in the last couple of series. Against England he has scored 226 runs in 11 matches, averaging 25.11 and at Christchurch he averages 19.20, scoring 94 runs in 4 matches. We are backing Seifert to have a good start to the T20I series and predict his score to be over 20 runs.

England beat Ireland by six wickets in their last T20I last month but that was with a team which rested a few of their big names. Not for this series though as skipper and newly installed Test vice-captain Harry Brook returns to lead a strong XI in this opener.
Phil Salt has been in exceptional form for his country over the last 12 months and he has formed a brilliant opening partnership with former captain Buttler. Tom Banton returns in the middle order to make a powerful five, six and seven of himself, Sam Curran and Jordan Cox.
With the ball, Adil Rashid and Liam Dawson have bags of experience and top level wickets while Luke Wood continues to be expensive but fulfils the role of strike bowler in the side.
Phil Salt Total Runs Over 23.5 1.83
The last time he stepped on to the field in a T20I match, Salt scored a magnificent hundred, where England scored over 300 runs for the first time in T20I's. So far this year he has scored 346 runs in 9 matches, averaging 38.44. Salt is a bankable player to bet on to score over 23 runs and we back him to keep those runs in today's fixture.

It looks set to be a cloudy evening in Christchurch with the temperature likely to drop to 14 degrees after dark. There could be some rain very late on in the match if the game goes that far!
Hagley Oval is a great place to watch and play international cricket. There will usually be some grass left on the wicket to aid the pace bowlers as well as some turn for the spinners.
Total Match Score Over 349.5 2.00
The average total match score in the T20I matches played at the Hagley Oval is around 285-290 runs. The surface offers good bounce and carry and as it is the first match of the series expect a good batting track and the kind of form both teams batters are in, we are expecting a high scoring contest and predict the total match score to be over 349 runs.
New Zealand to Win the Coin Toss 1.95
We back the home team New Zealand to win the coin toss in the 1st T20I match of England tour of New Zealand 2025 at Hagley Oval.
Both teams prefer to chase in this format so our prediction is that the captains will go out for the toss planning to bowl first should they call correctly.
