Oman has its task cut out as they take on Canada in the 11th game of the Desert Cup T20I Series 2022. They need to win this game to make it to the final. The side comes here with a win against Bahrain. Canada has already made it to the final after their win against Saudi Arabia in the last game.

Canada has won four of the five games the side has played in this tournament, which will make the side confident. Their batsmen have shown excellent form putting up big scores on the board. There would be pressure on the hosts to do well in this contest, and it will be interesting to see how their experienced players fare.

Oman Preview

Zeeshan Maqsood's side registered an emphatic win in the last game against Bahrain. Their batsmen demolished the Bahraini attack en route to a 106-run win led from the front by their captain. The side would look to continue with the same momentum, and Maqsood would like his players to deliver a good show in this contest.

Jatinder Singh and Kashyap Prajapati are familiar with these conditions and look to give the side a good start. Maqsood scored a hundred in the last game and will look to add runs in the middle order with Shoaib Khan and Mohammad Nadeem. The lower middle order has good hitters in Rafiullah M and Sandeep Goud.

The bowling attack did an excellent job in the last game, and the side would need good spells from Bilal Khan and Kaleemullah with the new ball, as Canada has a strong line-up. Rafiullah M and Samay Shrivastava must bowl good spells in the middle overs. The side would also like tight bowling from Gaud, Mohammad Nadeem, and Maqsood.

Oman Predicted Playing XI:

Zeeshan Maqsood (c), Kashyap Prajapati, Jatinder Singh, Shoaib Khan, Mohammad Nadeem, Rafiullah, Sandeep Goud, Suraj Kumar (wk), Kaleemullah, Samay Shrivastava, Bilal Khan

Canada Preview

It has been an excellent show from Saad Bin Zafar's side. They have won four out of five games and defeated Saudi Arabia in the last game. The team is already in the final, and Bin Zafar would look to build momentum ahead of that game. They had defeated Oman previously, and it would make the side confident.

Aaron Johnson and Srimantha Wijeratne have done well for the side. There would be expectations from this pair. Mathew Spoors is in form, and he needs to anchor the innings with Pargat Singh and Ravinderpal Singh in the middle order. In the lower middle order, the side would like to see runs from Bin Zafar and Harsh Thaker.

Their bowlers come here after a good show in the last game. Kaleem Sana and Ammar Khalid need to bowl tight spells, as Oman has good hitters at the top. Harsh Thaker and Dillon Heyliger will have to contain the batsmen in the middle overs. Nikhil Dutta, Bin Zafar, and Ravinderpal Singh will look to do well in the supporting role.

Canada Predicted Playing XI:

Saad Bin Zafar (c), Aaron Johnson, Srimantha Wijeratne (wk), Matthew Spoors, Pargat Singh, Harsh Thaker, Ravinderpal Singh, Dillon Heyliger, Ammar Khalid, Nikhil Dutta, Kaleem Sana

Weather Conditions

The weather would be hot and humid during the afternoon and challenging conditions for the bowlers. The track has been a belter so far and has allowed the batsmen to play on the rise. Big scores have been made and chased here in the tournament. The side that bats first in this game would need a score in excess of 180 runs to feel comfortable defending it.

Venue Details

Al Amerat Cricket Ground is one of the world's best batting wickets, and several high scores have been made here. It is a venue that batsmen like as the ball comes to the bat easily and also aids them with a fast outfield. Fast bowlers have always struggled on this wicket, while spinners tend to enjoy the turn they extract from the track.

Toss: To Bowl

It is a tough venue to defend a total. The wicket is placid, and we have seen big run chases at this venue. There isn't much on this surface for the bowlers, and batsmen have scored runs freely. The side winning the toss would have little hesitation in opting to bowl first.

Both these sides have done well in the tournament, and we expect to see a close contest. Canada has been excellent with the bat, but their bowlers have struggled, which is a major weakness for the team. Oman has a strong spin attack and knowledge of the conditions. Their batsmen did well in the last game, and it will put them slightly ahead of  Canada.
