Match 16 of IPL 2026 sees Rajasthan Royals face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati. Rajasthan have had an amazing start to the season, winning three in a row to storm to second place on the table. RCB too have had the perfect start with two big wins from two to take the top of the table and look in outstanding touch this season. They also got the better of Rajasthan both times last season, and given their current run, they head into this match as favourites to come out on top. That said, the Royals cannot be taken lightly and will challenge RCB, given how they are playing.

Rajasthan Royals have made a strong start to IPL 2026, winning their first three games to move up to second on the points table. In their latest outing, they beat Mumbai Indians by 27 runs in a shortened 11-over match, putting up 150 and holding MI to 123 for nine.
Their batting unit has looked in good touch so far. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have formed an exciting opening pair, both capable of taking charge inside the powerplay. Sooryavanshi did exactly that against Mumbai, scoring 39 off just 14 balls to set things up. His recent form across formats has been outstanding, with scores of 39 off 14, 31 off 18, 52 off 17, 175 off 80, 68 off 33, 30 off 22, and 52 off 30 in his last seven innings.
Jaiswal can also get them off to a fast start, and he was the top-scorer in the previous match with an unbeaten 77 off 32 balls. He already has two fifties this season and will back himself against RCB on this surface.
Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel bring some balance through the middle overs. Parag showed his value last season with an average of 33. Shimron Hetmyer adds pace in that phase as well, which he showed last year in the IPL with a strike rate of 146.
The bowling unit has also done well. Jofra Archer has started strongly with three wickets so far, while Nandre Burger has chipped in with five, and both can trouble RCB early. Sandeep Sharma brings plenty of variation and can pick wickets in the middle overs, but the side could look to use him upfront given his strong numbers against Virat Kohli, having dismissed him seven times while conceding only 132 runs at an average of 19. So that can be a match-up worth waiting for. Ravi Bishnoi handles spin duties and has impressed most so far with seven wickets in three matches at an economy of 9.11. Ravindra Jadeja also keeps things tight with his changes of pace, adding another option.
Yashasvi Jaiswal: Total Sixes Over 1.5 @ 1.85
The current orange cap holder, Jaiswal has smashed a total of 8 sixes in 3 matches this season, hitting close to 3 sixes per match. At Barsapara Cricket Stadium he has hit five sixes in his last two matches, averaging 2.5 sixes per game at this venue.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: Total Fours Over 2.5 @ 2.00
Sooryavanshi is a boundary-hitting machine who has already smashed 10 fours in the three matches played this season, averaging 3.33 fours per match. At Barsapara Cricket Stadium he is averaging 3 fours per match.
Powerplay Score Over 58.5 @ 1.80
This season, the Royals are averaging 77.6 runs in the first six overs at 13 runs per over, having scored past 60 runs in all three matches played. The Royals have been a dominant side in the powerplay overs at this venue, posting 89, 54, 79, and 74 runs in their last four matches at Guwahati.
Total Fours Over 15.5 @ 1.85
Rajasthan Royals are averaging 14 fours per match this season. In two of their last three matches they batted for only 12 overs and averaged 12 fours at Barsapara Cricket Stadium. However, when they played a full 20-over innings against the Gujarat Titans, they hit a total of 18 fours, showing their boundary-hitting potential over a complete game. We back them to clear the 15.5 line with a full quota of overs today.
Total Sixes Over 9.5 @ 1.95
Rajasthan Royals have also been one of the best six-hitting sides this season, smashing 10 sixes per match on average. At Barsapara Cricket Stadium they hit 18 sixes across their last two matches. With a strong top-heavy batting lineup in excellent form, expect the Royals to continue their flair and dominate the RCB bowlers.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have started their season in strong fashion, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings at home to move to the top of the table with confidence. In their previous outing, RCB outplayed CSK by 43 runs after piling up a huge 250 for 3. It was a dominant performance that set the tone early in the season.
RCB have had players stepping up across the board, with Virat Kohli scoring 97 across two games and Devdutt Padikkal piling up 111 in the same span. Padikkal has looked in excellent form, scoring back-to-back fifties while striking at 202. The top order now looks very strong with Kohli, Philip Salt, and Padikkal all batting well.
Rajat Patidar has also made an impact in the middle order, striking at 254 during the middle overs and helping the side push well beyond 200. Jitesh Sharma, Tim David, and Romario Shepherd add more depth in the lower middle order.
Tim David brings serious firepower in the middle overs, which he showed in the last game with an unbeaten 70 from just 25 balls, including eight sixes. Romario Shepherd has also been effective, striking close to 175 since 2025. Both are capable of changing the course of the innings late on.
Jacob Duffy and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been excellent for RCB, picking up nine wickets between them and striking early. Their contest against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal could shape the game, and one of them could remove Sooryavanshi inside the powerplay.
RCB will also turn to Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya in the middle overs, and against Rajasthan’s middle order, they could make a real impact.
Devdutt Padikkal: Total Runs Over 22.5 @ 1.85
Devdutt Padikkal has made an outstanding start to the season, scoring back-to-back half-centuries. He is the leading run-scorer for RCB so far with 111 runs in 2 matches at an average of 55.5. He also carries an excellent record against the Rajasthan Royals, scoring 311 runs in 7 matches at an average of 44.42.
Powerplay Score Over 58.5 @ 1.85
RCB scored 51 and 76 runs in their last two matches this season, averaging 64 runs in the first six overs this season.
Total Sixes Over 8.5 @ 1.95
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the best six-hitting team this season, averaging a staggering 16 sixes per match across their last two games. With batting depth right through to number nine and power hitters throughout the top six, we predict RCB to clear the ropes well over 8.5 times in today's match against the Royals.

Expect warm and humid conditions in Guwahati through the evening, with temperatures around the high-20s°C at the start of play and only a slight drop later in the night. There is a chance of passing showers or light rain in the vicinity, though winds are likely to remain light, meaning interruptions, if any, should be brief.

Average Turn
Only two matches took place at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium during IPL 2025, where teams posted 151 and 182 in the first innings. The opening game at this venue, though, saw plenty of runs, as Rajasthan raced to 150 for 3 in just 11 overs after being sent in to bat in a rain-shortened contest and went on to win with ease.
The surface is expected to be good for batting in both innings. Pacers could get some early movement off the pitch, especially in the first few overs, which brings chances of early wickets, while spinners may get a bit of grip in the middle overs, though not a lot. Overall, it looks like a pitch that helps batters and may get easier to play on later because of dew.
If Rajasthan bat first, they could be eyeing a total in the 190 to 200 range. RCB, given their strong batting, might be targeting something around 200 to 210.
Total Match Sixes Over 17.5 @ 1.85
Rajasthan Royals are averaging 10 sixes per match this season, while RCB are averaging a staggering 16 sixes per match. When these two high-powered six-hitting sides clash, expect a crash-bang-wallop kind of game where sixes are plentiful. We predict the total match sixes to go well over 17.5 in today's contest.
Rajasthan Royals to win the coin toss @ 1.90
We back the home side, Rajasthan Royals to win the coin toss in today's match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Guwahati stadium.
In the 13 IPL 2026 matches played so far, captains who won the toss chose to bowl first in 11 instances. The reasoning is straightforward: batting second gets easier once the floodlights come on in India. This match will probably go the same way, and whoever wins the toss should choose to chase, particularly since evening rain could be a factor in Guwahati.
Rajasthan Royals take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in what looks like the most exciting clash so far, with both teams unbeaten and playing at a level above the rest in the tournament. Rajasthan’s concern is their strong dependence on openers Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who have both been in great touch. But if either of them falls early against RCB, their middle order could come under pressure, and that opens the door for the opposition.
RCB will want to carry on with their current approach, where their batters attack from the start and look to dominate the bowling, whether setting a total or chasing one down. Their bowling attack is strong enough to support that plan as well. This could turn into a tight game if Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal build a good start, but an early wicket for either could swing things heavily in RCB’s favour.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are our picks for the winners of this match!
