The 2nd match of the South Africa Women vs Pakistan Women 3-match T20I series will be played on 13th February on Friday. The match will be played at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
The hosts, South Africa Women, have already taken a 1-0 lead after winning the first T20I. The Proteas won in a last-ball thriller while chasing a 181-run target, led by the half-century from captain Laura Wolvaardt and a cameo by debutant Kayla Reyneke.
Pakistan Women scored 180 runs batting first, all thanks to the individual brilliance of their captain, Fatima Sana. The all-rounder, coming in at number 8, scored 90 runs off 41 balls, playing a lone warrior's knock. Unfortunately, it all went in vain.
If the first match is anything to go by, this should be another exciting one with the series on the line. South Africa Women are performing well in all departments, whereas Pakistan needs to do a lot better with the bat and try taking wickets regularly.

South Africa Women have taken an early lead in the 3-match T20I series with the win in the 1st T20I by 5 wickets. It was a tightly contested affair between the two teams that went until the last ball of the match.
Chasing a 181-run target wasn't going to be an easy task. Yet the Proteas showed grit and determination to cross the line, led by their captain Laura Wolvaardt’s half-century and debutant Kayla Reyneke finishing things off with a cameo.
Captain Wolvaardt has continued her form from last year into the new year, which is a good sign for the Proteas Women's team. She finished things off with 190 runs in 5 matches in 2025 at an average of 47.50 and started off with 61 runs off 38 balls in this match, batting at a strike rate of 160.53.
She formed good partnerships with Sune Luus and Dane van Niekerk that allowed South Africa to start off well in pursuit of the target.
But the job wasn't done yet until debutant Kayla Reyneke played a cameo of 29 runs off 16 balls batting at 7, scoring at a strike rate of 181.25. South Africa needed 10 off the last over and Reyneke scored 12 runs off it, including a six off the last ball to win the match.
It was a debut match to remember for Kayla, not only because of her cameo with the bat, but also because she started things off with the ball, grabbing 2 wickets for just 13 runs in her 4-over spell, claiming the Player of the Match award for her performance with bat and ball.
Ayanda Hlubi was the top wicket-taker for the hosts though, taking 3 wickets for 41 runs in 3 overs. Nonkululeko Mlaba also took 2 wickets, while Ayabonga Khaka picked one wicket to set the tone early in the game.
It was the luxury performance South Africa was hoping for. Other than the middle order’s failure, it was a perfect game for the Proteas, and they will be hoping to seal the series with straight wins.

Pakistan Women's team's lacklustre form in T20I cricket continues with another defeat in the 1st T20I of the three-match series. With this, Pakistan have lost 4 out of their last 5 WT20I matches since the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they failed to qualify for the semis.
It was a terrible performance from the Pakistan team in the 1st T20I vs South Africa. They had lost 3 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs and couldn't recover from that, continuing to lose wickets at regular intervals.
Captain Fatima Sana was the only notable performer for the visitors. The 24-year-old all-rounder scored 90 runs off 41 balls at a strike rate of 219.51. In her inning, she hit 9 fours and 7 sixes. She was in great form coming into this series, having scored 255 runs in 9 previous WT20I matches.
The other notable performer was Natalia Pervaiz, scoring 20 runs. Meanwhile, Muneeba Ali, Gull Feroza and Umme Hani all scored in double digits but couldn't convert to a big score.
With the ball, Pakistan bowlers couldn't really cause a collapse or be able to get frequent breakthroughs, but they bowled a tighter line and length, making the Proteas batters work hard.
Nashra Sandhu was the best of the bunch for the Women in Green. The 28-year-old spinner took 2 wickets for 27 runs in her 4-over spell. Meanwhile, Ayesha Zafar and Humna Bilal both got a wicket apiece.
For Pakistan, this is a must-win match. The batters must step up their game and try to score runs from the top itself rather than relying on Captain Fatima Sana. With the ball, they will have to try and get more frequent wickets.

The weather forecast in Benoni suggests that it will be partly cloudy in the morning and it will start to rain in the afternoon, which could disrupt the match. The temperature will hover around 24-19°C with a 50-70% chance of rain past 2 p.m. local time. There will also be a light wind blowing at 14 kmph.
Willowmoore Park offers a balanced track in T20 cricket. The surface offers good carry and bounce for pacers early, but batters can dominate once set. In the recent Women's T20Is, we have seen scores around the 160-200 mark.
The average first-inning score here is 167 runs. England Women have scored the highest total here, 204 runs, in the most recent match played at the venue. 119 is the lowest at the venue, while 173 is the highest chased at the venue.
Toss doesn't have a significant advantage. However, given the pitch remains the same throughout the game, chasing scores around the 180 mark is possible. The captain who wins the toss is likely to bowl first.
South Africa Women are clear favourites to seal the series in the 2nd T20I. The Proteas are firing on all cylinders. Laura Wolvaardt's classy 61 anchored the chase last time, while Ayanda Hlubi (3/41), Nonkululeko Mlaba with the ball, and debut star Kayla Reyneke made a cameo with both bat and ball. Meanwhile, Pakistan's T20I woes continue with just 1 win in the last 5 WT20Is. They were exposed once again in the 1st T20I despite Fatima Sana's stunning 90-run inning. Back South Africa Women to win comfortably.
