San Francisco Unicorns, under the captainship of Corey Anderson, played a perfect game against Los Angeles Knight Riders in their opening match of the season. The comprehensive win early on meant that the SF have now has the highest NRR and are in the second spot at the points table.

After electing to bowl first, the Unicorns had the Knight Riders restricted to 96 for 5 in the 13th over of the match. The Knight Riders fought back and reached a respectable, but slightly under par, score of 165 in 20 overs, thanks to Andre Russel's onslaught at the end of the innings. Brody Couch and Haris Rauf both took 2 wickets for SF Unicorns.

The chase proved to be a straightforward one for the Unicorns. Player of the match, Finn Allen (63 runs off 37 balls), and Matthew Short (58 runs off 26 balls) scored half-centuries at the top of the order to help SF Unicorns get over the line in the 16th over with plenty to spare. SF would be looking for another good game against TSK to strengthen their position in the points table.

Texas Super Kings Preview

Texas Super Kings finished second in the points table last season in 2023 and advanced to qualifier 2, but they lost to eventual winners MI New York. They must have started this season with a wish to go a step further this time, but a loss and washout has made the situation dire for the Texas Super Kings.

TSK had a great chance in the first game after restricting the Knight Riders to just 162. They even got to a commanding position of 102 for 2 in the 13th over. But a flurry of wickets meant that the TSK were reduced to 120 for 8 in the 18th over. They couldn’t recover from that and ended up losing the game by 12 runs.

The game against Washington Freedom was much better.  Batting first, thanks to Captain Faf du Plessis’ century in just 58 balls, TSK put on a massive total of 204. But the washout meant they did not get a chance to win the game. TSK had conceded 62 in just 4 overs without taking a wicket. A tough game is coming for them against the Unicorns, whom they had beaten in last season’s encounter.
