We are into the 7th game of the Caribbean Premier League 2021 and defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders would be up against the Saint Lucia Kings. The Knight Riders won convincingly against the Barbados Royals in the last game after losing their season opener.  The Saint Lucia Kings on the other hand suffered a crashing defeat against Jamaica Tallawahs and must make a strong recovery.  

The Tallawahs have dominated the rivalry between the two sides over the last four seasons winning all the 10 games and this is likely to give them lot of confidence going into this contest. They have a strong batting line-up and shall look to exploit weakness in the opposition camp. It will be interesting to see if the Saint Lucia Kings are able to turn things around in this game.

Faf du Plessis’ side was blown away in the last game by the Jamaica Tallawahs. It was an extremely poor show from their bowlers where they ended up conceding 255 runs and lost the game by 120 runs. The skipper would want his side to get over this defeat and earn their first points for the season.  

Openers Rahkeem Cornwall and Andre Fletcher didn’t contribute much to the last game and the side would like to see a better show from them. The middle order also looked shaky, and runs would be expected in this game from Mark Deyal, du Plessis and Roston Chase. Tim David and Wahab Riaz did score runs and the same would be expected from them down the order. 

It was a nightmare for the new look bowling attack in the last game and the side would like to see tight spells from Keemo Paul and Riaz in this game. Obed McCoy and Usman Qadir too have to bowl better spells here for the side to register a win. They would also expect good support from Kesrick Williams and Chase as they are up against a very strong batting line-up.

Trinbago Knight Riders Preview

Kieron Pollard would be happy with the kind of recovery his side made after the loss in their opening game. The defending champions had an easy outing against the Barbados Royals winning it by 6 wickets. They have a great record against the Saint Lucia Kings and Pollard would look forward to extending the winning streak and move up on the points table.  

Lendl Simmons and Sunil Narine haven’t scored runs at the top and this is one area the side would like to work on in the next game. Colin Munro too has failed, and the side would need a good show in the middle order from him and Tim Seifert. Pollard and Denesh Ramdin did well in the last game and along with Darren Bravo and Isuru Udana add good strength to this batting line-up. 

Akeal Hosein and Ravi Rampaul come here after impressive performance in the last game. They would look to make good use of the new ball in this game as the Kings have a shaky line-up. Jayden Seales got his line wrong in the last game and shall need to do well here. Udana would be confident after his 5-wicket haul in the last game and adds to the strength of the attack with Sunil Narine.

It would be clear skies over St Kitts on August 29 and the wicket is expected to play well.  We have already seen a big score being put up here and batsmen have been able to play their strokes after they have got their eyes set in on the surface. The side batting first in this game would have to put 180 runs on the board to feel safe.

Venue Details

Warner Park, St Kitts is a batting friendly surface and we have seen good scores being put up by the batsmen here. Fast bowlers do not enjoy much assistance from the surface and have to use their variations well here. Spinners have enjoyed good record at this venue as the ball turns and stops on the batsmen.
