Sunrisers Hyderabad would go into the 25th game of Indian Premier League 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders with mixed feelings. They come here with a win against the Gujarat Titans, but their key bowler has suffered an injury which is a massive blow for the side. Kolkata Knight Riders lost against the Delhi Capitals by a huge margin in the last game and need to get their form back.
The last two seasons have seen the Kolkata Knight Riders win all four games between the two teams. This would add to their confidence as the side has good firepower with the bat. SRH lacks bench strength, especially with the lower middle order and the side would have to punch above its weight in this game with depleted resources.
Kane Williamson’s side has turned the table with big wins in two consecutive games. The side looked completely out of form in the first two games but looks completely different. The 8-wicket win against Gujarat Titans in the last game would add to their confidence as it came against a good team. They must carry this momentum forward and aim at their third consecutive win of the season here.
Abhishek Sharma looks in good form and the side would like to see another good start from him and Williamson who has gained his form. The middle-order has good players in Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, and Rahul Tripathi, and all three have scored runs in the last two games. Their lower middle order is relatively weak, and Shashank Singh and Shreyas Gopal would have big responsibilities on their shoulders.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar continues to struggle, and the side would like to see him do as he opens the bowling with Marco Jansen. Washington Sundar’s injury has come at the wrong time as he was having a great season. Shreyas Gopal is likely to come in for this game and he will have to bowl good spells in the middle overs with Umran Malik and T Natarajan. Markram brings his experience to the table, and he will need to play well in the supporting act.

It was a terrible day for the KKR bowlers in their last game against the Delhi Capitals. Skipper Shreyas Iyer would be worried about the way his bowlers went about executing the plans in the last game where they conceded 215 runs to eventually lose the game by 44 runs. They haven’t lost a game against Hyderabad in the last two seasons and Iyer would want his side to continue with the same record here.
Ajinkya Rahane has struggled, and he is likely to make way for Aaron Finch who will open the batting with Venkatesh Iyer. Early loss of wicket is hurting the side and they would need a good show at the top. The middle-order has done well, and the side would need runs from the trio of Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana, and Rinku Singh. KKR has one of the most dangerous lower-middle orders and the side would expect big hits from Sam Billings, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine in this game.
Their bowlers would have to come out of the shocking performance in the last game and tight spells would be needed from Umesh Yadav and youngster Rasikh Salam. Narine has looked good, but the side would expect a good spell of bowling from Varun Chakravarthy who hasn’t delivered yet in the tournament. Russell and Venkatesh Iyer will have a very important role to play as Pat Cummins isn’t likely to find a spot in this game.

We expect a hot and humid evening in Mumbai on April 15. Batting conditions are expected to be great as the wicket is flat and has allowed batsmen to play their strokes at will. There is nothing for the bowlers on this surface. The side batting first in this game would have a target score of 200 runs or more in mind.
Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai is one of the best batting surfaces in the country. The ball comes onto the bat nicely and this allows batsmen to play their strokes freely. There is nothing on this wicket for the fast bowlers and they have little margin of error. Spinners have enjoyed better records as there is some turn on offer.
We have seen big scores being made at this venue this season. The wicket has been flat and this allows batsmen to have a go at the bowlers right from the start. Hence, the side winning the toss would like to take advantage of the conditions by opting to bat first in this game.
Sunrisers Hyderabad comes here with two consecutive wins and a set of problems. Their batting is weak in the lower middle order and losing their best bowler due to an injury has hurt their bowling attack. They will need to make the best out of their resources to win this game. Kolkata Knight Riders have depth in the batting and this is a big plus for the side. With their excellent record against Hyderabad in recent years, they will start as favorites to win this game.
