Hampshire Hawk’s herculean task against confident Surrey
Surrey to win
Tournament: VITALITY T20 BLAST 2021 | Format: T20 | Venue: Kennington Oval, London, England | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowIt is the 44th game in the T20 Blast 2021 and Surrey would be taking on the Hampshire Hawks at home. Surrey has looked in good form and has won all the games they have played with their last game against Sussex Sharks being washed away by rain. Hampshire Hawks on the other hand come here after a confidence shattering defeat at the hands of Middlesex in the last game.
Hampshire Hawks have won only one out of the four games they have played. In the last four games played against Surrey they haven’t won a single game and this would add to the doubts they already have in mind. Surrey playing at home would look to take most advantage of the conditions and win this game.
It was a rain washed game for Gareth Batty’s side against the Sussex Sharks and the skipper would be slightly upset considering the kind of form they were in. They have won all their games so far and shall look to win this game and reach the top of the points table in their group. Their record against Hampshire Hawks has been excellent and the side would like to continue with the same.
Batting is formidable at the top with Jason Roy and Will Jacks opening the batting and the side would need a good start from them. They would expect runs from Laurie Evans and Sam Curran in the middle order as they have scored runs in the tournament. The side bats deep and has good hitters of the ball in Tom Curran, Jamie Smith, Jordan Clark and Jamie Overton.
Their bowling attack hasn’t looked in the best shape and gone for runs on occasions. The side would like to see early wickets from Sam Curran and Daniel Moriarty in this game. Batty has lot of experience and shall look to keep the run rate under check along with Rikki Clarke. Overton and Tom Curran complete a good bowling attack for the side.

James Vince’s side finds itself in a spot of bother at the moment. They have managed just one win in the four games they have played. They went down against the Middlesex Eagles by 3 wickets despite putting 215 runs on the table. The side would have to put that behind and focus on playing with a positive mindset.
On the batting front James Vince and D’Arcy Short have scored runs and the side would expect an electrifying start from them in this game. The middle order is also looking in good shape with Joe Weatherley, Liam Dawson and Lewis McManus in good form. The side would also expect runs from James Fuller and Tom Alsop.
Their bowling attack was taken to the cleaners in the last game and the side would need Liam Dawson and Kyle Abbott to keep things tight early on in the game. Abbott did well but the rest of the attack looked completely out of form. The likes of Ryan Stevenson, Mason Crane and Bradley Wheal would need to do well here.

The skies over London would clouds on June 18 and we may have another rain washout. The wicket is expected to be difficult to bat on with pace and bounce on it. The side that bats first would be happy to put up a target of 160 runs or more on this track.
Kennington Oval, London is a good T20 surface as it has something for the batsmen as well as the bowlers. There is early assistance for the fast bowlers but batsmen who get their eyes set in have also made big scores on this surface in the past. There isn’t much in this track for the spinners though.
The wicket is known for offering some assistance to the bowlers early on in the game. Most teams have won games here chasing scores as setting one is always difficult. The skipper winning the toss should not have any hesitation in inviting the opponents to bowl first on this track.
Hampshire Hawks have so far struggled in the tournament and there bowling attack is looking in absolute shambles at the moment. They would be up against a very good side and it would be a big challenge for them. Surrey on the other hand looks in excellent form at the moment with their batsmen and bowlers looking good. This would make Surrey favorites to win this game.
