We predict Knights to win against Titans.
Tournament: Momentum One Day Cup 2021 | Format: ODI | Venue: Senwes Park, Potchefstroom | Toss: To Bat
Bet NowCricket South Africa and the South African fans are eagerly waiting for some action on the pitch after the last two games of the Momentum One Day Cup 2021 were abandoned due to a wet outfield. The thunderstorms at Potchefstroom didn’t let the Titans play their 2nd as well as the third game of the group stage. Though they opened their points account, the Knights who also had one of their games washed out also bagged 2 points. With only 2 games played and won by the Dolphins, they are currently sitting at the top of the table with 11 points followed by Titans with 3 and Knights with 2 Points. So it will be interesting to see who will open their winning account of this season.
In the first game of the tournament between the Dolphins and the Titans, the Dolphins won the game by 76 runs. Chasing 273 runs target set by the Dolphins, the Titans finished their innings on 196 runs with the loss of 8 Wickets. Senuran Muthusamy’s 70 runs by the bat in 67 balls and 2 wickets for 39 with the ball earned him a man of the match trophy.
In the second game of the tournament between the Dolphins and the Knights, Dolphins opted to bat first. Last years’ top scorer Grant Roelofesen’s 92 runs and a fifty from David Miller helped them put a target of 291 runs on the board. But the Knights managed to score 237 runs only with a fifty from their top scorer of the last season - Andries Gous. Robbie Frylinck took 2 wickets for 14 runs in 8 overs. So both the teams will be looking forward to winning the game and move close to the table toppers.
Titans started their campaign with a 76 runs loss against the current champions -Dolphins. With Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram not playing, Titans will be continuing to open their innings with Neil Brand and Diego Rosier. Rosier played 3 games for the Titans last season scoring 131 runs at an average of 65.50. The Titans would love to see Rosier continuing his last season’s form after an off game.
Titans' top order will be led by their captain Grant Thomson with Theunis de Bruyn and Rubin Hermann. Though the top-order kept score running in the first game, all of them failed to capitalize on their good start with the bat. De Bruyn’s 36 runs were the most runs by a player in the last game. Therefore he could be the key to the Titans’ first success this season. Chances of Sibonelo Makhanya getting replaced by the veteran Henry Davids are more as the Titans are looking to pace the innings with some hard-hitting in the middle-order.
Dayyaan Galiem was the most economical bowler for the Titans in their first game. His 2 wickets for 22 runs in 6 overs restricted the Dolphins to 272. Therefore, it won't be a surprise to see him handling the new ball with the comeback kid Kyle Abbott. His return was hyped in Africa before the series. But he couldn’t show his effectiveness on paper by getting only 1 wicket for 55 runs at an economy of 6.10. Thando Ntini, Tabrez Shamsi, and Junior Dala will fill up the remaining quota of the players to boost the bowling department. Shamsi.
Key Players: Dayyaan Galiem, Diego Rosier, Junior Dala
Grant Thomson (C), Neil Brand, Diego Rosier, Theunis de Bruyn, Rubin Hermann, Henry Davids, Dayyaan Galiem, Kyle Abbott, Thando Ntini, Junior Dala, Tabrez Shamsi.
After a solid end last season, Knights opened their season against the Dolphins in the game second of the Momentum One Day Cup 2021. Chasing 291 runs target set by the Dolphins they scored 237 runs to lose the game 53 runs. Knights will trust their openers Patrick Kruger and Jacques Snyman to open their innings. Kruger showed some resistance to the Dolphins attack while Snyman fell easily in the trap of Mungroo on 5 runs. Therefore this will be the opportunity for him to show his worth to the team plan.
After moving to the one-down slot, Andries Gous will team up with the captain Pite van Biljon and Farhaan Behardien. Last Season’s top scorer from the Knights showed his class in the first game by hitting a half-century. His 57 runs partnership with Kruger and 64 runs with Biljon gave a solid start to the Knights innings after losing Snyman cheaply. Wandile Makwetu will continue to wear the keeper's gloves for the Knights. Patrick Botha and Ferisco Adams will find their places in the team sheet as the Knights will be expecting them to speed up the innings in the final overs. If Knights decide to go with Matthew Kleinveldt, Botha will find a place in the dugout after a poor performance in the first game.
Last season’s leading wicket-takers Mbulelo Budaza and Shaun Von Berg will continue to finish their 20 overs quota to put pressure on the Titans. Kagiso Mohale will support the duo in the bowling department after impressive bowling in the first game.
Key players: Mbulelo Budaza, Andries Gous, Farhaan Behardien
Pite van Biljon (C), Jacques Snyman, Andries Gous, Patrick Kruger, Farhaan Behardien, Ferisco Adams, Wandile Makwetu, Matthew Kleinveldt, Mbulelo Budaza, Shaun Von Berg, Kagiso Mohale
The weather at Potchefstroom will be humid and cloudy. The temperature will be as high as 27°C to a low of 19°C. The wind will be gusting at around 9-17 km/h. A thunderstorm is expected in the afternoon and at night.
Senwes Park. Potchefstroom is famous for some of the best chases in International cricket. Both the teams have not won their games at the venue in the last two years.
Batting first seems to be a successful pattern of the tournament. The team that batted first has won all the games played here in this season. Therefore, the team winning the toss should bat first here.
With the Knights winning the last three outings against the Titans and putting a strong performance in their loss against the Dolphins, we predict the Knights to win their game against the Titans.
We predict Knights to win against Titans.
