Welsh Fire’s campaign has taken a hit after back-to-back heavy defeats, which has taken them to the seventh position. Their latest setback came against London Spirit in Cardiff, where they fell short by six runs in a chase of 164, ending at 155 for six. They will be eager to turn things around here.
Jonny Bairstow has been the standout performer so far, scoring 128 runs in just two games at a strike rate of 175.34. Beyond him, the batting unit has struggled badly, with no other player passing 40 runs in total across the two outings.
Steve Smith, Luke Wells, and Tom Abell have the quality to make an impact, but are yet to find any rhythm.
The bowling attack has had its own troubles, unable to strike consistently. Riley Meredith has been the bright spot, taking three wickets and keeping his economy below nine. Josh Hull and David Payne, however, have both gone at over ten an over, which has put extra pressure on the side.

Manchester Originals got off to a nightmare start, first suffering a narrow one-wicket defeat to Southern Brave, followed by a heavy nine-wicket loss at the hands of Oval Invincibles. They managed to lift themselves in their third outing, sealing a 10-run victory over London Spirit.
Philip Salt has been in excellent touch as captain, putting together 132 runs across three games at a strike rate of 142. Jos Buttler has looked solid as well, making 68 runs in two innings at a strike rate of 116. We are backing at least one of these two to get 30 or more runs this time.
Heinrich Klaasen and Mark Chapman have chipped in with useful runs and are expected to contribute again. Klaasen, in particular, can be destructive if he gets through his first 10 to 15 deliveries.
Scott Currie has been the most effective bowler so far, claiming five wickets from three matches with an economy of 7.92. Josh Tongue and Sonny Baker have taken three wickets each, while Noor Ahmad has also struck twice.

Seam movement under lights is a regular factor in evening games, and Sophia Gardens can reward bowlers who keep a disciplined length early on. The shorter straight boundaries tempt batters to take the aerial route, but mishits can bring fielders into play. As the innings wears on, pace-off deliveries become harder to time. Dew is less common here, so defending a total remains a realistic option for well-balanced bowling attacks.
The weather in Cardiff is expected to be pleasant and clear for the game tomorrow.

The average score batting first at Sophia Gardens in the Hundred is 128. The highest total posted here in the competition is Welsh Fire’s 165-7 versus London Spirit in 2021. For this fixture, both teams will eye a total of around 140-150 to give themselves a solid chance.
Sophia Gardens usually favors the side chasing in the Hundred, and we expect the toss-winning captain to bowl first here.
Welsh Fire and Manchester Originals have not enjoyed the best of starts this season. The Fire, in particular, are yet to register a win, despite having a strong line-up on paper. They have struggled to click together in match situations. Manchester have done a bit better, and their latest victory should have lifted their spirits. Considering recent form and squad balance, Manchester appear slightly better placed to take this one.
We are backing Manchester Originals as the winners of this clash.
