After losing the first T20I, New Zealand Women came back strongly in the second match to register a series leveling win. West Indies Women’s batting woes continue, which may cost them this series too. New Zealand Women’s top order shone through this time, but their middle order is a worry.
West Indies Women put up another shoddy batting display in this limited-overs series. After being asked to bat first, the home side could only manage 107-5. Kyshona Knight was the top-scorer for them with a gritty 42 off 48 balls. Chinelle Henry’s 24 off 22 balls lower down the order was the only notable contribution. The team badly missed the presence of Stafanie Taylor, who has been out due to injury.
West Indies Women’s bowling lacked the bite in this encounter. Barring Hayley Matthews’s economical spell of 0-9 off 3 overs, none of the others could put the opposition batters under much pressure. Given the pitch's help for the slower bowlers, they should have done better.

New Zealand Women will be happy with their performance in the 2nd T20I. They lost the first match due to some sloppy batting but made amends in the next encounter. Suzie Bates top-scored with a fantastic 54 off 61 balls. Her knock was enough to ensure her team a comfortable sic-wicket win. However, the team will be concerned with the failures of Georgia Plimmer and Maddy Green. The presence of Lauren Down in the middle order, however, provides them with much-needed stability.
The Kiwi bowlers have enjoyed this pitch throughout the limited overs series and they once again utilized it much better than the home side. The experienced Hayley Jensen was in action this time and picked up 3 wickets for 24 runs from her 4 overs. Eden Carson was the other standout bowler for the side, taking 2 wickets for just 12 runs from her 4 overs.

The pitch at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium hasn’t been ideal for limited-overs cricket. The ball has gripped the surface and comes slowly to the bat. Run-making hasn’t been easy and batters will really need to dig in to make a substantial score. Slower bowlers will again relish bowling here. The team batting second will have a slight advantage as the surface does become a little better for batting by the second half.
The weather today in Antigua will be cool. A morning shower is expected but we should get a full game.
In the two matches played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in this T20I series, the team batting first has posted 115 and 107-5 respectively. This isn’t a high-scoring venue by any stretch of the imagination. A target of around 130 might be a winning score here.
Win the toss and bat second has been the mantra that has worked for the teams in the limited-overs series. Expect that to continue.
West Indies Women have been let down by their constant poor batting displays. They are overly dependent on the likes of Hayley Matthews and Aaliyah Alleyne. They need a stronger show by the middle order to challenge the Kiwis. New Zealand Women continue to be impressive on this tour. Their bowling has been terrific and their top-order has been rock solid. Expect them to dominate this game.
Back New Zealand Women to emerge victorious.
