The 2nd of the two quarter-finals in the England Domestic One Day Cup 2026 will be played between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. The game will be played at the Clifton Park Ground in York on 14th August.
Yorkshire finished 2nd in Group B behind runaway leaders Middlesex. Throughout the campaign, they recorded 6 wins and only 2 losses accumulating 24 points. They take on Nottinghamshire who finished 3rd in Group A where they won 5 matches and lost 3 in 8 games.
There have been a grand total of 37 head-to-head matches played between the teams in List-A cricket dating back to 1963. Yorkshire has a slight edge in this head-to-head rivalry with 17 wins for them compared to 15 wins for Nottinghamshire, who have won both the last two games against Yorkshire.

After losing in the semi-finals last year, Yorkshire is back in the latter stages of the competition and this time they would want to go those further steps and lift the title. Pre-tournament, they were one of the favourites to top the group, and have rightfully qualified for next round.
The side led by Dominic Bess had a disappointing start with a 50 run defeat against Hampshire. While it was a morale shattering start, they bounced back immediately and went on a four game undefeated run before top of the table Middlesex got the better of them. But as usual, they won the next two games against Derbyshire and Essex convincingly, including a 7 wickets win in the last game vs Essex.
With the bat, it's not been a one person carry job, but rather a team effort. William Luxton and Sam Whiteman have both scored more than 300 individual runs. The former is the top scorer with 347 runs at an average of 43.38 including two back-to-back centuries against Sussex and Worcestershire during the mid-phase of the campaign. Whiteman meanwhile has scored 342 runs in 8 games averaging 68.40.
All-rounders James Wharton and Will Bennison have scored 273 and 204 runs respectively. Wharton would be remembered for his hard-fought 68* off 122 balls vs Durham that helped Yorkshire to victory on a difficult surface. Bennison though has scored two half-centuries in the last four matches. However, veteran batter Adam Lyth's performance has been seriously disappointing, having scored only 98 runs in 8 innings.
Then the bowlers did a heavy-lift. Medium-pacer Benjamin Cliff is the tournament's top wicket-taker with 18 wickets. He has bagged wickets in all 6 games he has played, including three 4-fers and his best performance of 4/29 vs Glamorgan.
He has been really well supported by George Hill (14 wickets) and Ben Coad (12 wickets) bagging wickets in double digits. Hill’s best was undoubtedly a 3-fer vs top of the table Middlesex while Coad got a 5-fer early in the season against Sussex.
Indian chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has got 9 wickets in 5 matches. However, he won't be available for selection as he was signed for only five matches. He would most likely be replaced by Jafer Chohan. Meanwhile captain Dominic Bess and Jack White have got 7 and 6 scalps respectively.

Nottinghamshire finished the England One Day Cup 2026 group phase at 3rd place in Group A. They have equal points as the top two teams, but lagged behind in net run rate. For them, this is going to be nothing less than a challenge as they have qualified for the quarter-finals for the first time since 2022.
The season began with three consecutive wins for the Notts, including crucial wins against Somerset and eventual table toppers Leicestershire. Back-to-back defeats against Lancashire and Kent followed before they ended the season with two wins in the last three matches.
South African wicketkeeper-batter Kyle Verreynne is the top run scorer for the team. He has scored 443 runs at an average of 88.60 in a campaign where he may not have scored a single century, but he has been consistent throughout with 5 half-centuries.
Then English domestic cricket veteran Haseeb Hameed and youngster Freddie McCann have scored 304 runs each, both averaging 38.00 but McCann has looked to be the better of the two with his highest score of 91 runs off 105 balls vs Northamptonshire.
Other key contributors with the bat include Benjamin Martindale (292 runs), Lyndon James (201) scoring over 200 runs respectively while George Munsey in the last few games scored 175 runs including a well-crafted knock of 138 runs off 132 balls in the last match.
James Hayes has led the way with the ball for Nottinghamshire. The right-arm pacer has taken 12 wickets in 8 matches while Joseph Pocklington made his mark at the start of the season, picking-up 10 wickets in 3 games. He sustained an injury afterwards and hasn't featured since after his 4-fer vs Leicestershire and is unlikely to play this one either.
In his absence, the likes of Brett Hutton, Lyndon James and Farhan Ahmed have to form a partnership alongside Hayes. The trio combined have taken 24 wickets with Hutton bagging the most, 9 wickets.

The weather forecast on Friday in York is likely to be partly to mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures could reach a high of around 19–25°C. There is a moderate chance of light rain, especially later in the day, though a full match remains likely.
The pitch is generally batting-friendly and has produced high-scoring games in recent List A matches. It offers true bounce that allows batters to play their shots once set. Seamers can get some early assistance, particularly with the new ball, while the surface tends to settle into a good batting track. This season, only two have been played at the venue and the average first innings score is about 198.
The captain who win the toss would want to bowl first. In the two games played at the venue this year in the One Day Cup, both games have been won by the bowling first side.
Yorkshire are slight favourites at home. With six wins from eight matches and tournament leading wicket-taker Benjamin Cliff (18 wickets) by their side, they hold a stronger quality. William Luxton (347 runs) and Sam Whiteman (342) provide solid batting. Nottinghamshire is a very good team, especially with the bat Kyle Verreynne, McCann have been brilliant, but it's their bowling that is worrisome. Yorkshire’s balance and home advantage should see them progress.
