The midfield trio of Vitinha, João Neves and Bruno Fernandes is arguably Portugal's greatest asset. All three arrive in outstanding form, but it is Fernandes who stands out after enjoying a record-breaking campaign with Manchester United, registering 21 assists and nine goals. 

If he can replicate that level on the biggest stage, the Portuguese captain could well emerge as one of the leading contenders for the Golden Ball.

DR Congo have been hit by an early setback, with Hibernian defender Rocky Bushiri ruled out of the World Cup after suffering an Achilles injury, opening the door for Aaron Tshibola to come into the squad.
