The County Ground in Northampton, established in 1885, is the historic home of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. They played their first first-class match here in 1905. While historically known to favor spinners, famously exemplified by Jason Brown and Monty Panesar taking all 20 wickets in a 2005 match, the wicket has also seen prolific batting, including Percy Fender's 35-minute century in 1920.
This characterful ground, surrounded by terraced houses, hosted two 1999 Cricket World Cup matches, including Bangladesh's historic first World Cup win. It continues to be a central venue for Northamptonshire's County Championship, Vitality T20 Blast, and Metro Bank One Day Cup matches. In recent years, it has increasingly become a regular host for women's international ODI and T20i matches.
