The best batting apps in India have uploaded the odds for the 2nd Test.

In the last 10 fixtures between the two teams which took place at home for Australia, India has won 5 Test fixtures and Australia stands at 2. Three Test fixtures on the land of Australia have ended up as a draw.

These stats speak volumes about India’s dominating performance on Australian pitches against Australia in the red-ball format. As a matter of fact, the visitors would like to maintain their dominance over Australia and reach the third consecutive finals of the World Test Championship.

Australia vs India - 1st Test Recap

1st Inning

The first Test started with India winning the toss and choosing to bat first. However, no one was aware that their batting unit would destroyed like a house of cards against the Australian batting unit.

KL Rahul scored 26 off 74 at a strike rate of 35.14 at the top order and Rishabh Pant scored 37 off 78 balls at a strike rate of 47.44. However, it was the newcomer all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy who turned out to be the leading scorer with 37 off 78 balls at a strike rate of 47.44.

Australian bowlers kept the game in control from the start and got rid of the Indian batters in every spell. Josh Hazlewood came out on top with his performance with 4 wickets at an economy of 2.23. Mitchell Starc and skipper Pat Cummins picked up 2 wickets at an economy of 1.27 and 4.28.

When it came to the Australian batters, they completely went off the track and couldn't handle the Indian pace attack. Not a single batter could score runs and build partnerships for Australia. Mitchell Starc was the leading scorer with 26 runs at a strike rate of 23.21.

From India’s side, temporary skipper Jasprit Bumrah was in ferocious form and picked up 5 wickets at an economy of 1.67. Newcomer Harshit Rana scalped 3 wickets at an economy of 3.13 and Mohammed Siraj picked up 2 wickets at an economy of 1.54.

2nd Inning

Things completely changed for the Indian side when they came to bat in the 2nd inning. Yashaswi Jaiswal announced the beginning of his era in Indian cricket by scoring 161 off 297 balls at a strike rate of 54.21. KL Rahul also showed a glimpse of coming back to his old form by scoring 77 off 176 balls at a strike rate of 43.75.

Virat Kohli scored his 30th Test century in the 2nd inning on 143 balls at a strike rate of 69.93. The performance of India’s two top batters gave the team a major advantage in the match.

The Australian bowling unit looked under pressure since the start of the game. They failed to scalp wickets at the right time and break the partnerships of the opposition. Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Marsh picked up a single wicket each and Nathan Lyon scalped two wickets.

When Australia came to bat, there was no change in their rhythm. It was a horrible performance by the team and the Aussies lost their first five wickets at a score of 79 runs. Travis Head was the leading scorer with 89 off 101 balls at a strike rate of 88.12. Mitchell Marsh contributed with 47 off 67 balls at a strike rate of 70.15.

Australia vs India 2nd Test - What To Expect?

The 2nd Test between Australia and India will mark the return of India’s regular skipper Rohit Sharma. He was on paternity leave and missed out on the first Test. However, his return will only boost the batting lineup of Team India.

Shubman Gill will be the other batter to return to action after missing out on 1st Test. He missed out on the first Test due to his finger injury and according to reports, the player is on time for his recovery.

With the return of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, Devdutt Padikkal might have missed out on selection for the 2nd Test. KL Rahul looks in form and it will be a wrong decision to drop him from the squad.

In the Australian camp, there is no change expected. They have their players intact but skipper Pat Cummins will have some tough discussions with his batters before coming for the 3rd Test. Check out the match prediction for the Australia vs India 2nd Test.
