Pakistan Super League has taken centre stage again as the draft has recently taken place. One of the primary reasons PSL is in the news is because the schedule will clash with the Indian Premier League. Pakistan Cricket Board is also hosting the ICC Champions trophy this year and hence the league is scheduled to start a bit later this year.
It is due to the clash of the schedule between two Asian heavyweight T20 cricket leagues, that few players won’t be part of PSL. However, there will be a few big names, who missed out on an IPL team during the mega auctions and will be part of the Pakistan Super League.
PCB has taken a risk by scheduling the league at the same time as IPL. For the first time in 10 years, few key players will be available partially but the risk has also been paid off because few cricket stars will be making their debut in the league.
One of the biggest benefits that the Pakistan Super League will receive with the IPL clash is the availability of Australian, New Zealand, England, and South African players for the league. These players used to miss out on the traditional February-March window because of their commitment towards IPL in March.
In this article, we have collected the list of key players who will be part of PSL 2025 and won’t be seen in IPL 2025. At one point these players were the star attraction on trusted IPL betting apps and now they will be the stars in PSL.
1) David Warner - Karachi Kings
One of the biggest attractions in PSL 2025 will be the presence of Australian aggression - David Warner. The man is a legend in Australian cricket and has recently announced his retirement from international cricket. His international retirement has made his calendar free for the T20 cricket leagues. David Warner was a flop show in IPL for the past few years and was not purchased by any team during the auctions. However, Warner is a match winner and hence that brings him to Pakistan for the league this year. In the ongoing BBL season, David Warner is one of the leading run-scorers and that makes him a batsman to watch out for in PSL.

2) Kane Williamson - Karachi Kings
Another star attraction in PSL 2025 will be New Zealand’s stylish and talented batsman Kane Williamson. When it comes to T20 cricket, Kane Williamson is a well-known name. However, he has been in and out of the national squad because of constant injuries. In IPL, Kane Williamson witnessed a gradual decline and was released from Sunrisers Hyderabad and it was shocking to see no bids coming out for the Kiwi batter during the mega auctions. However, during the PSL draft, the Karachi Kings took the opportunity with both hands to sign Kane Williamson.

3) Daryl Mitchell - Lahore Qalandars
Another New Zealand star and very well-known all-rounder Daryl Mitchell will be making his debut in the Pakistan Super League this year. He was part of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League but was released from the team after the 2024 season. No other franchise came forward to buy him during the auctions and hence Daryl Mitchell made himself available for the PSL schedule. He will be part of Lahore Qalandars in the league and an asset in the middle order.

4) Finn Allen - Quetta Gladiators
A dynamic batsman and former Royal Challengers Bangalore player Finn Allen will be seen in PSL this year. Finn Allen was unfortunate in not receiving a contract from any team in IPL even after performing exceptionally well in international cricket. However, Quetta Gladiators have taken the opportunity to hire the New Zealand run-scoring machine and he will play an important role for the Gladiators in the league.

For the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League, the list is unending. There are big names like Adam Milne, Michael Bracewell, and Mark Chapman on the list of sold players. They are also making their debut for the league this year. Kyle Jamieson is another man to watch out for who was a supplementary pick in the league.
