England have recalled Brydon Carse for the rest of the ODI series against India after his recovery from wrist and elbow injuries. The 30-year-old fast bowler has joined the updated squad for the remaining matches, with England led by captain Harry Brook.
Carse had spent several months on the sidelines before making three appearances for Durham in the Vitality Blast. Source A says he had also been sidelined with wrist and elbow injuries, had missed the IPL after being struck on his right-hand while training in the nets, and that the specific nature of that injury had not been revealed.
His last ODI for England came in November 2025 against New Zealand, with Source B saying that was in Wellington. He has played 30 ODIs and taken 34 wickets at an average of 40.44. Source B also says he has scored 264 runs at an average of 17.60, with his best figures coming in a five-wicket haul.
The remaining ODI fixtures are at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on July 16 and Lord's in London on July 19. The series began at Edgbaston on Tuesday.
England's updated squad is Harry Brook (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Brydon Carse, James Coles, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Adil Rashid, Joe Root and Josh Tongue.
