“Delhi Capitals Might Retain him for IPL 2025” says Ricky Ponting on Jake Fraser-McGurk's Future In IPL

Australian legend and former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has recently expressed his views on Jake Fraser-McGurk's future with Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. The 22-year-old Jake Fraser-McGurk joined Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi.

While being on the air during the England-Australia T20i series, Ponting was asked about Jake Fraser-McGurk by a commentator. His replay was positive for the player and Ponting expressed his optimism in his words.

“It’s a good question because I haven’t actually seen much of him since the IPL. I love working with him and coaching him. He’s a great kid. He works really hard on his game, but things have happened so quickly. There’s an IPL auction coming up in probably November or December,” Ponting said.

He also said that Delhi Capitals are expected to offer him an extension for IPL 2025.

“There’s every chance that the Delhi Capitals will offer him a retention. He’s going to make a lot of money really quickly early in his career. Still, he’s not the finished product yet and has to work it all out. I think he can eventually play Test cricket for Australia eventually,” he added.

IPL 2025 mega auctions are about to take place in the January-February window. However, before that, all the franchises are in the process, of signing their priority players and designing the rest of the squads.

Once the new season comes closer, IPL betting will take centre stage.

Jake Fraser-McGurk made his debut in the T20i for Australia in the recently held 3-match T20 series against Scotland. Since his debut, he has been a crucial player in the middle order for the Aussies.
