IPL 2025 Schedule - Eden Gardens to Host IPL Finals on May 25

The much-awaited and highly anticipated schedule of the 2025 IPL season is out. As announced earlier this month by a BCCI official, the 18th edition of this marquee tournament will begin on March 22nd, with the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, taking on three-time IPL finalists, Royal Challengers Bangalore, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The third match of the season features one of the most heated and talked-about rivalries in the history of the league: five-time champions Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians lock horns on March 23rd at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
A total of 74 matches will be played across 13 venues for a duration of two months, with the final to be played at the historical Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 25th. This is the first time in over a decade that an IPL final will be played at this venue. The last time an IPL final was played at Eden Gardens was in the 2015 season, where Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians clashed, and before that, it hosted a final in 2013.
Coming to the playoffs, Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator on May 20th and May 22nd will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The league will feature a total of 12 doubleheaders, with all the doubleheaders to be played during the weekends. Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, and Lucknow Super Giants will play three afternoon matches each, while the other six teams will play two afternoon matches. The matches will start at 3:30 PM IST.
