It's Two From Two For London Spirit Women

London Spirit Women have made an excellent start to the 2025 Women's Hundred with wins over their London rivals Oval Invincibles in match one and then a narrow two run victory against Welsh Fire on Saturday in a re-match from last year's final!
Both victories have come when batting first, after they won their last three last year when chasing, and already London Spirit look like the team to beat in this season's tournament.
Victories Over Oval Invincibles & Welsh Fire
London Derby Success
There was plenty of pressure on London Spirit Women ahead of the first game of this season as not only was it the first fixture in either the Women's or Men's competition in 2025 but was the first after the multi-million pound investment in the tournament.
It didn't start all that well against their London rivals, with keeper-batter opener Georgia Redmayne making a six-ball duck. However, Cordelia Griffith (50) and Grace Harris (89*) showed their class from number three and four respectively to get Spirit to 176/5.
Oval Invincibles Women always have a strong batting line-up but in spite of the powerhouse of Meg Lanning, Alice Capsey and Marizanne Kapp, London Spirt came out on top.
| Bowler | Balls | Dots | Runs | Wickets |
| Tara Norris | 10 | 7 | 3 | 1 |
| Issy Wong | 20 | 8 | 26 | 2 |
| Sarah Glenn | 20 | 5 | 28 | 1 |
Escaping The Welsh Fire With Another Four Points
Norris and Glenn went wicketless in the Welsh capital but Issy Wong picked up a dismissal and now has three for the season so far.
It wasn't the perfect showing for the reigning champions but they got the job done and this time it was Charli Knott doing the business with the bat, hitting 47 runs from 33 balls.
What's Next For London Spirit
After a win in Cardiff, Spirit move to the capital of the north as they take on Manchester Originals Women who picked up their first victory of the campaign at The Oval earlier on Saturday.
This will be the fourth contest between the sides and London Spirit Women are yet to taste defeat in the head to head (W2, A1).
With history like that, as well as their start to this season, not to mention last year's success, London Spirit Women look like being the team to back ahead of Monday's clash at Old Trafford.
