Lucknow Super Giants is one of the formidable forces in the Indian Premier League since their inception in 2022. They have reached the playoffs twice and have given tough times to some of the strongest teams in the league. Unfortunately, the team has failed to win a single IPL trophy.

Their performance in the previous edition of the league was below average. They finished at the 7th spot in the league with 7 wins and the same number of losses. Their net run rate stood at -0.667. It was for the first time, Lucknow Super Giants failed to reach the playoffs.

For IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants come back in action after doing some big changes in the squad. It is a new start for the team under the leadership of former Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant.

During the IPL 2025 mega auctions, Lucknow Super Giants bought Rishabh Pant for INR 27 Crore and he turned out to be the costliest player for the team. He has also assigned the role of captaincy to the management.

Lucknow Super Giants retained Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Ayush Badoni in the team. The rest of the squad was built around these 5 big names.

Avesh Khan was the next costliest player for the team as he was signed for a price tag of INR 9.75 Crore. David Miller (Rs. 7.5 crore), Aiden Markram (Rs. 2 crore), Mitchell Marsh (Rs. 3.40 crore), and Akash Deep (Rs. 8 crore) came out as the other key purchases from the list.

Lucknow Super Giants have planned their shopping strategically and now they just need the right combination of playing XI. Rishabh Pant’s experienced captaincy will take the team to new heights, but at the same time his failure at the Delhi Capitals camp will haunt him in the upcoming season.
