Matt Kuhnemann Cleared to Bowl: ICC Greenlights Aussie Spinner After Action Review

Matt Kuhnemann Cleared to Bowl: ICC Greenlights Aussie Spinner After Action Review

Kuhnemann gets a ‘Green Flag’ by ICC as he was suspected of bowling action in the match. He had to undergo a few tests in Brisbane, declaring that his deliveries did not cross the 15-degree mark.

ICC Carried out an Action review of the bowling action by the Aussie Spinner Matt Kunhemann and declared him clear of the charges laid against him.

Matt Never Doubted his Bowling Action

In a recent interview, Kuhnemann revealed that he was always sure about his bowling line and action. It was a relief for him to get a clear pass from the ICC as well.

  • Kunhemann’s bowling action was marked illegal as a result of which we had to face suspension from bowling by the International Cricket Council.
  • The subsequent series of assessments carried out at Brisbane declared him clear of the charges.
  • Left-arm Aussie spinner was suspended after the two-test series played at Sri Lanka. There, he scalped 16 wickets in the matches, and Australia bagged triumph with 2-0.

It was the first time in his career that Matt was reported for bowling action since 2017, but the outcome favored him, as reports on Wednesday revealed.

ICC Released an Official Statement on Kunhemann’s Tests

Reports claim that the ICC took a bowling test of Matt Kuhnemann at Brisbane’s National Cricket Centre on February 15th, 2025.

  • ICC further unveiled that the alignment of his elbow extension was within 15 degrees for all the deliveries he made.
  • This is the permitted tolerance as per the guidelines of ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations.
  • Matt was relieved and looked forward to his future career, though Botha warned Matt to keep a close watch on his action reports.

Kunhemann was allowed to continue playing domestic cricket until the test reports were out, but he suffered a thumb dislocation during the BBL.

  • It kept him out of cricket grounds since then. Still, it’s unclear if Matt will be able to make it for Tasmania’s Sheffield game in Hobart at Queensland commencing on March 6.

With Kuhnemann now cleared, discussions around fair play and regulations in cricket have sparked interest among fans and bettors alike. Many are now turning to safe online betting platforms to place their bets on upcoming matches, ensuring a secure and transparent gaming experience. As cricket continues to evolve, having trustworthy platforms remains crucial for those who love to engage with the sport beyond just watching.

Kuhnemann to Get Selected for West Indies Test Tour

Chances are good that Matt Kuhnemann will be able to participate in the test match against the West Indies scheduled for June and July. He had cleared the test, which lasted for over an hour, and evaluators asked him to bowl at a similar revolution and speed to Galle’s second test.

The ICC Panel of experts closely scrutinized Kuhnemann's bowling results, as he had markers on his body. High-speed cameras, along with 3D Motion markers in the testing space, ensure accurate outcomes of the proceedings.

CA Executive General Manager of the Aussie Squad, Ben Oliver released a statement that we are relieved about Matt’s matter being resolved. He further added that it was a tough time for him but he passed through it with grace and calm. Australian Cricket fully supports Kuhnemann in carrying forth the further journey of his international career!
