Pakistan OKs Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy 2025: India's Matches in Dubai

Pakistan OKs Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy 2025: India's Matches in Dubai

India to Play Champion Trophy Matches in Dubai!!

Backed by political diplomacy and the tension between India and Pakistan, the likelihood that India will travel to Pakistan was super slim, and now the rumors got the seal of truth. The International Cricket Council has announced that India will play all its Champion Trophy matches in Dubai, while the majority of the 2025 tournament will take place in Pakistan.

In a recent meeting of ICC officials, the decision popped out, marking a turning point in international cricket. Sources reveal that ICC President Jay Shah and the officials from Pakistan mutually agreed to go along with the hybrid hosting strategy. The surprising thing is that this model will extend to all ICC events until 2027.

How the Hybrid Model Works in Cricket?

Pakistan is still the host of the Champions Trophy 2025. So, most of the matches will be hosted on Pakistani land. However, India will be traveling to Dubai for their matches. It will remain neutral ground for all teams. So, in short, all the matches that involve India will be hosted in Dubai, and the rest in Pakistan.

Decision on Future Tournaments

The hybrid model will be the new normal for some time. It will not just be limited to the Champions Trophy 2025. The T20 World Cup 2026, which is hosted jointly by Sri Lanka and India, will also adopt this route. Pakistan is set to play all their T20 World Cup matches in Sri Lanka. On top of that, there is a high chance that the Indian women’s cricket team will be playing its league matches against Pakistan at neutral venues in the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup.

Officials Say Cricket Over Diplomacy

Pakistan Cricket Board head Mohsin Naqvi openly revealed his opinion on the matter, saying, "Cricket should win; that’s most important but with respect for all." Other than that, the ICC President Jay Shah highlighted the need to prioritize cricket’s global appeal and maintain peace among member nations.

ICC Champions Trophy Schedule to Be Revealed Soon

The fans and the broadcasters are just on their toes to get their hands on the official ICC Champions Trophy schedule. According to leaks, the contract between ICC and the broadcasters says the tournament schedule must be published at least 90 days in advance, but that deadline is gone. Things were stuck with India refusing to travel to Pakistan. So, finally, the latest development will clear the decks, and ICC will soon release the much-awaited schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Final Words

The Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to start in February-March 2025. So, keep an eye on our website, as we will be the first one to reveal the official schedule after ICC makes an announcement. Meanwhile, whether you’re into cricket betting or following match predictions, this hybrid format promises an unforgettable tournament for fans across the globe.
