Australian and Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins has recently provided a major update on his injury. Pat Cummins, who missed out on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to an ankle injury, is expected to make his comeback in IPL 2025. He has confirmed that his focus is to start bowling in the coming weeks to prepare himself for the upcoming season of IPL.
“The aim is to start bowling in the next week or so, gradually build up, and be fully prepared for the IPL,” he said in an interview with cricket.com.au.
Pat Cummins was initially named in Australia's squad for the ICC Champions Trophy. However, he and his two pace partners - Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc- pulled out from the tournament for their respective reasons.
Josh Hazlewood is currently recovering from a hip injury. He is also expected to get back in action for the Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mitchell Starc pulled out of the tournament because of his personal reasons and he is expected to be back in action in IPL for Delhi Capitals.
For Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy, Steve Smith is currently the leading man for the team in the absence of Cummins. Australia is also missing out on all-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh due to injury reasons.
They have a major void in their bowling unit where the team is mostly dependent on new faces for wickets. In the spin unit, Adam Zampa will be the key player for the Aussies.
Australia will begin their ICC Champions Trophy campaign by facing their arch-rivals England in the first fixture. We have mentioned the best betting tips in the match prediction of the two teams. The two teams have an animosity that makes the upcoming fixture a thrilling contest to watch.
The Success of Sunrisers Hyderabad & Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024 and took over the responsibility of leading the squad. The team immediately turned things around and came out as one of the strongest squads in the league.
They finished their league stage at the 2nd spot with 8 wins and 5 losses. Their net run rate stood at +0.414. One of the biggest turnarounds for the team was their batting unit where Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Heinrich Klaasen dominated the whole league with their aggressive batting style.
Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the playoff but lost the first fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, the team immediately bounced back and scored a win against Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator to cement their space in the final game. In the finals, things turned out to be unfortunate and the franchise failed to lift the trophy.
