A new season of domestic cricket in India has begun. Ranji Trophy - the premier red-ball format tournament from Indian domestic cricket, will begin on 11th October across the country.
The upcoming season will be the 90th season of Ranji Trophy. Mumbai has dominated the tournament winning their 42nd title in the previous season. They defeated Vidarbha in the finals of the previous season.

Ranji Trophy 2024-25 - Format
The previous season of the Ranji Trophy was affected due to the bad weather in the winter of 2023. Considering that BCCI has taken a decision to break the tournament into two legs.
The Ranji Trophy first leg will take place from 11th October to 13th November. The 2nd leg of the tournament will begin on 23rd January with Elite group knockouts to start on 8th February.
Ranji Trophy 2024-25 is split into 5 groups. There are 4 Elite groups with one Plate group. The Plate Group will have their own knockouts and the finalists will become part of the Elite Group in the next season.
Similarly, the two teams who finish at the bottom of the Elite groups will be relegated to the Plate group in the next season.
