What Is a Bad Beat Jackpot?
In poker, a bad beat means losing with a very strong hand. Stake is turning this pain into a chance to win part of a ₹8.3 crore pool.
To qualify, these conditions must be met:
- You must play on a Hold’em or Omaha Ring Game table with the jackpot icon.
- At least four players need to be dealt cards.
- You must go to showdown (see the final cards).
You must lose with a very strong hand:
- Hold’em: AAAJJ or better
- Omaha: 2222x or better
- Both players in the showdown must use 2 hole cards.
- For four of a kind hands, your hole cards must have a pocket pair.
- If the board is run more than once, only the first run counts.
- You must stay at the table till the hand ends.
Who Gets What in the Jackpot?
When the jackpot is triggered, money is split among players:
- 8% goes to the player who lost with the strong hand (the Bad Beat Winner)
- 5% goes to the player who won the hand (the Opponent)
- 3% is split among the other players at the table
Here’s what else you should know:
- Jackpot prizes are given instantly after the hand ends.
- You can check your rewards in your transaction history.
- If you leave the table before the hand ends, you won’t get paid.
- Ring Game stakes have separate jackpot pools, but they share the same fund.
Where Does the Jackpot Money Come From?
Stake sets aside 2.5% of all Ring Game rake to fund this jackpot. That money goes into different pools based on the game stakes. This means higher-stakes players are playing for bigger jackpot chunks. So, no matter your budget, there's a jackpot level for you.
- ₹208/₹416: 56.67% of the jackpot fund
- ₹83/₹166: 22.67%
- ₹41/₹83: 11.33%
- ₹20/₹41: 5.66%
- ₹8/₹16: 2.27%
- ₹4/₹8: 1.13%
- ₹0.80/₹1.60: 0.22%
What Makes This Different?
Most poker platforms focus only on the winner. Here, Stake rewards the unlucky. You could lose with quads (four of a kind) and still walk away with lakhs.
Why it’s interesting:
- No need to chase leaderboards
- Prizes go out immediately
- Other players at the table also get paid
- Makes playing strong hands less painful
