The game one stung. Cade Cunningham scored a playoff career-high 39 points and Tobias Harris added 17, but those two were the only Pistons to reach double figures as Orlando took Game 1 112-101. The Magic jumped out to a 15-5 lead early and Detroit spent the rest of the night chasing.
Cunningham later admitted the team came out "a little too tight, lax, whatever the word is." That 11-game home playoff losing streak felt every bit as real in those final minutes.
Game 2 is about correcting that flat start and getting more contributions from the supporting cast. Cunningham cannot carry 39 points into every game and he should not have to. Jalen Duren, who helped carry the team through Cunningham's collapsed-lung absence late in the season, needs a bigger showing he was largely invisible in Game 1 on both ends.
If Cunningham can push into 32-36 points with Tobias Harris scoring 20-plus and Duren contributing 14-16 inside, this looks completely different. The crowd at Little Caesars will be loud and desperate to snap that streak.
The Pistons on average score 117.8 points per game they score 48.5% from the field and are ranked 3rd in the league, and 35.6% from the arc and are ranked 17th in the league. The Pistons grab 45.6 rebounds per game and Ranked 8th in season.
All five Magic starters scored 16 or more points in Game 1. Banchero led with 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Wagner added 19, with 11 of those coming in the fourth quarter. Wendell Carter Jr., Desmond Bane, and Jalen Suggs each chipped in 17, 17, and 16 respectively. It was total. Every starter produced when it mattered.
The Magic's balanced attack proved too much for the Pistons defense, demonstrating their depth. This collective performance bodes well for their chances in the rest of the series. The distribution of scoring suggests they are not overly reliant on one player.
Orlando also outscored Detroit 34-2 on points off turnovers and 18-2 in fast break points. That is not sustainable for a full series, but it tells you the energy gap that existed in Game 1. In Game 2, the Pistons will be sharper so Orlando needs to be ready for a more physical fight.
Banchero can push for 26-28 points here; he was efficient in Game 1 and has the size to exploit Detroit's frontcourt in isolation. Wagner's fourth-quarter takeover is worth watching; he has ice-water in his veins in big moments and can go for 22-25 if the Magic get into a tight fourth quarter. The pace will be slower, but Orlando has enough shot-creation to stay dangerous.
The Magic on average score 115.7 points per game they score 46.4% from the field and are ranked 21st in the league, and 34.3% from the arc and are ranked 27th in the league. The Magic grab 43.4 rebounds per game and Ranked 19th in season

Detroit has the firepower to win this series Cunningham's 39 in Game 1 without much help is proof of that. But they need four or five guys to show up, not two. The Magic proved in Game 1 they can hold a lead when it matters, and Wagner closing things out in the fourth quarter shows Orlando has a closer. For the Pistons, this is a must-win at home. Dropping to 0-2 against an 8-seed on your own floor is an almost impossible hole to climb out of. Expect a far more urgent and physical Detroit performance. The crowd will push them.

The 11-game home playoff losing streak has to end at some point, and a desperate Pistons team at Little Caesars with Cunningham motivated is hard to bet against. The Magic will make it competitive. Banchero and Wagner are too good not to but Detroit has the better roster and home court is real. Cunningham goes for 34-38, the supporting cast finally shows up, and the Pistons even the series.
