Bangladesh vs Pakistan 1st ODI match is scheduled for March 11, 2026, to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. This will be the first of the three-match 50-over series as part of the Pakistan tour of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh will be in action for the first time in three months after they pulled out of the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. Pakistan, meanwhile, were knocked out from the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup, and as a result of that, we have seen some major changes in the squad for the ODI series.
These are some important matches for both sides, as they are still finding their best combinations in the 50-over format ahead of the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Bangladesh returns to international cricket after being three months on the sideline following all the dramas that led to Bangladesh withdrawing from the T20 World Cup 2026 in India & Sri Lanka. With the past now behind, the Bangladesh cricket team will be looking for a new beginning.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming 3-match home ODI series vs Pakistan. The side will be led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who has played 114 ODIs since making his debut in 2017 and has scored 1790 runs.
The biggest talking point of the Bangladesh squad is that Litton Das has been retained in the team despite him consistently flopping across formats and not scoring in double digits since 2023. However, the Bangla Tigers would be counting on his experience of playing 95 ODI matches in which he has scored 2569 runs.
Other notable batters in the squad include the likes of Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan, Tawhid Hridoy, and Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan. Bangladesh fans will be counting on Soumya Sarkar with all his experience of playing international cricket since 2014. He has 2338 runs in 79 ODI matches. Najmul Hossain Shanto would be another prominent name with 1705 runs in 58 ODI matches under his belt.
Tawhid Hridoy has been doing well recently, establishing himself as one of the important members of the team. The 25-year-old has scored 1265 runs in 44 ODI games.
All-rounder and captain of the team, Mehidy Hasan Miraz would play an important role with bat and ball. He has scored 1790 runs and taken 121 wickets for the hosts. He has particularly been exceptional at home as he has taken 50 wickets in Bangladesh itself.
Afif Hossain and Rishad Hossain are other key spin bowlers in the team. Rishad, in particular would be someone to keep an eye on after he impressed with 15 wickets in the BBL 2025-26.
The Bangla Tigers would be missing key pace bowlers like Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan because of injury, but they still have a very good pace bowling attack consisting of two ever-reliable pacers Mustafizur Rahman (177 wickets) and Taskin Ahmed (117 wickets), who have combined taken 294 wickets.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim Total Runs Over 19.5 @ 1.85
Tanzid Hasan Tamim has had a horrid time in recent ODI matches, recording scores of 0, 10, 17, 7, and 62 over his last five outings. He has only surpassed 20 runs once in that span; however, he has performed well in recent domestic matches and looks to be in good touch ahead of this ODI series against Pakistan. We back Tanzid to perform well and start the series on a positive note, predicting his score to be over 19 runs.
Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das (WK), Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (C), Afif Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Tanvir Islam.

Pakistan are coming into this series after they were eliminated from the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2026. The fallout from their disappointing campaign has been clearly visible in their squad for the Bangladesh ODI series.
The Pakistan team squad for the series includes wholesale changes, and six potential debutants have been included in the 15-member squad. Among those who have been axed from the squad are star batter Babar Azam and Saim Ayub.
Babar Azam had a difficult last few months. He had a torrid debut BBL campaign and was dropped from the Pakistan playing XI during their most important game of the T20 World Cup 2026 vs Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Saim Ayub’s exclusion feels pretty harsh, as there is a feeling that ODI is his best format. In 17 ODIs, he has scored 3 centuries and as many half-centuries.
Other than Babar and Ayub, the likes of Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, and Naseem Shah have all lost their place in the team, while injured Fakhar Zaman is also missing.
Among the six new faces in the squad is Pakistan and the T20 World Cup 2026’s top scorer, Sahibzada Farhan. He scored 383 runs in 6 innings, including two centuries against Namibia and Sri Lanka. Domestically, he has played 73 List-A matches in which he has scored 3160 runs at an average of 45.1.
Abdul Samad, Ghazi Ghori, Saad Masood, Maaz Sadaqat, and Shamyl Hussain are other names in line for a potential debut cap. Meanwhile, the likes of Mohammad Rizwan and T20I captain Salman Ali Agha have retained their place in the squad.
Shaheen Afridi will continue to lead the Pakistan team in the 50-over format. He has played 71 ODIs in which he has taken 135 wickets. This will be his 2nd ODI assignment as the captain of the team. He will have the likes of Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim Jr as his pace bowling partners. Rauf has taken 97 ODI wickets, while Waseem Jr has 41 scalps to his name.
Abrar Ahmed is the lead spin bowler in the Pakistan team with 28 wickets in 14 ODIs since making his debut in 2024. He will have the company of the likes of Faisal Akram, debutants Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood.
Mohammad Rizwan Total Runs Over 27.5 @ 1.85
Rizwan has scores of 61, 51, 5, 32 and 4 in the last five matches, he is one of the key batters in the middle order for Pakistan and an expectational player of spin. His role will be crucial on what is expected to be a low bouncy track at Shere Bangla Stadium. He also has a good record against Bangladesh averaging 57.7 in the last five matches scoring 173 runs.
Sahibzada Farhan Total Runs Over 28.5 @ 1.85
The leading run-scorer in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, Sahibzada Farhan is in good form coming into this series. He is one of the key batters for Pakistan in the top order who consistently scores runs and he is set to make his ODI debut against Bangladesh in today's match. Expect a good start from Farhan and we back him to score over 28 runs.
Sahibzada Farhan, Shamyl Hussain, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Abdul Samad, Salman Ali Agha, Maaz Sadaqat, Faheem Ashraf, Saad Masood, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi (C), Abrar Ahmed.

The pitch at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, for 50-over games is usually a slow, bowler-friendly surface that helps spinners a lot, especially as the match goes on with grip and turn. It is a medium-scoring venue with bowlers often dominating more than batters. Pacers get early help, but spinners rule here.
The first innings average score in ODI cricket here is 230. 370 by Team India is the highest total at the venue, and 58 by the hosts, Bangladesh, is the lowest.
Bangladesh to win the coin toss @ 1.90
We back Bangladesh to win the coin toss in today's 1st ODI match against Pakistan.
The captain that wins the toss might prefer to bowl first, trying to utilise the freshness of the surface early on to trouble the opposition batters, while dew in the 2nd inning could make chasing easier. Out of 121 matches at the venue, the chasing team has won 63 times, while the batting-first side has won on 58 occasions.
Bangladesh are slight favourites at home in Mirpur. They return with confidence after a recent ODI series win and strong spin options (Mehidy Hasan Miraz 121 wickets, Rishad Hossain in form). Pakistan have a revamped squad with six potential debutants after T20 World Cup struggles, but Shaheen Afridi (135 wickets), Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed give them some hope. On the slow, spin-friendly pitch, back Bangladesh spinners to dominate over an unsettled Pakistan batting line-up.
Bangladesh to win.
