Matchday one of the 2026 Senior Women's One Day Trophy delivered plenty of big moments on Friday with Maharashtra Women producing the biggest win of the round, seeing off Pondicherry Women by eight wickets!
The two teams involved in this match on Sunday had contrasting results although neither Baroda Women's defeat or Karnataka Women's victory was by a remarkable margin.
Key to victory in this game is likely to be the top orders of both sides. Whichever are able to see off the new ball threat and build a strong foundation will be most likely to come out on top.
Still at this early stage, there is plenty left to play for!
Baroda Women were unable to recover from a poor bowling start in their opening clash of the tournament which saw them lose by 32 runs against Assam Women.
They will need to carry a greater threat with the new ball - something they were unable to do on Friday when four of their first five bowlers conceded runs at an economy rate of 4.10 to 7.33.
Skipper Hani Patel was the exception, sending down nine overs, three of which were maidens and returning impressive figures of 2/20.
Batting wise, the team needs to score runs at a quicker rate and they managed no sixes on Friday!
Opener N Changiwala is our tip to be their highest run scorer.
N. Changiwala (wk), A. Joseph, N. Dhrumniya, P.Khemnar, J.Mohite, S.Pandey, P.Rawat, H.Patel (c), C.Shishupal, K.Patel, D.Nrpua
Karnataka Women enjoyed a high scoring contest with Uttar Pradesh Women on Friday and it was a first wicket partnership of 126 from skipper S. Shubha and S. Gowda who set the platform for a comfortable win.
With openers performing in that fashion, Gowda went on to hit 119 from 128 balls, it made life a lot easier for the batters who came after and we expect a similar approach in this game.
That said, there are big and clean hitters lower down the order who can all clear the ropes!
With the ball, R. Gayakwad, B. Tejashwini and Saloni P will some into the game with plenty of confidence after picking up seven of the nine wickets on Friday.
S. Shubha (c), S. Gowda, P. Rajesh, S. Verma (wk), M. Vinod, S. Chavan, Saloni P, B. Tejashwini, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Sahana Pawar
Humidity levels will steadily rise across the day but not to a huge extent. Expect a hot day with the temperature above 30 degrees for the majority of the match.
This is an excellent batting wicket and whoever bats first will be looking to post a total of 320+. There will be some turn for the spinners but not enough to trouble top quality batters.
Karnataka Women will certainly want to set a batting platform once again and Baroda Women will not want them to do so. Therefore our prediction is for both sides to choose to bat first if they win the toss.
