The Dublin Guardians began the Dublin leg with an eight-wicket win over the Belfast Wolves and looked well-staged for a mini-comeback, but their hopes were quickly shut down in the very next match by the Edinburgh Castle Rockers as the Guardians lost by 12 runs and became the second team to be eliminated from the tournament.
Bowling first against the Castle Rockers, the Guardians conceded a huge score of 174/4 in 20 overs. Craig Young was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/42, while skipper Ravichandran Ashwin continued his good run of form with the ball, bowling another economical spell to concede just 17 runs in four overs. David Willey also chipped in with one wicket, giving away 20 runs in four overs.
Chasing 175 runs, the Guardians got off to a quickfire start, adding 54 runs in the powerplay overs. James Vince scored 17 of those runs off 13 balls, while David Willey scored 33 runs. Harry Tector top-scored with 45 runs off 29 balls, while Daryl Mitchell scored 18 runs off 16 balls.
Once these two batters got out, the Guardians' innings fell apart. George Dockrell did try his best, scoring 19 runs off 10 balls, but he fell on the first ball of the final over, and with that, the Guardians' qualification hopes were done and dusted.
With three league matches still to play, they will look to make the most of them, end the season on a high, and finish in a much better position on the table.

The Glasgow Cosmics enter this contest on the back of a 31-run loss against the Rotterdam Dockers in their last match, which marks their sixth defeat of the season and extends their current losing streak to five matches.
On a good batting track in a rain-affected game reduced to 19 overs, the Cosmics conceded 172/4 bowling first against the Dockers. Tymal Mills was the standout bowler with figures of 2/35, while Oliver Davidson and Liam Livingstone picked up one wicket each.
With the required run rate exceeding 9 runs per over from the outset, the Cosmics lost the wicket of George Munsey for just four runs early on. Jason Roy (23 runs off 11 balls) and Moises Henriques (26 runs off 13 balls) injected much-needed momentum into the chase, but the middle order failed to capitalise on the platform. Jimmy Neesham (28 runs) and Matthew Cross (17 runs) attempted to revive the innings, but it proved too late as the Cosmics finished on 141/9 in 19 overs.
They are one of two teams already eliminated from the tournament. With three matches remaining, just like their upcoming opponents the Dublin Guardians, the Cosmics will aim to deliver a much stronger performance and end their campaign on a positive note.

Dublin will experience light rain on Saturday, with temperatures reaching around 17°C. Breezy conditions will persist as winds blow at 24 km/h, while an 88% humidity level and a 35% chance of precipitation will keep the atmosphere damp and cool throughout the day.
The surface at The Village Ground in Dublin has played out evenly for both the batters and bowlers, teams batting first scored past 170 runs twice in the last four innings and the average 1st innings score in the ETPL matches played at this venue is 149, while the average 2nd innings score is 140 which shows most of the matches have gone really close. On average 13 wickets fell per match and most of the wickets have been taken by the pacers than spinners.
It has been even-stevens in the four ETPL matches played at the Village Ground in Dublin, where teams batting first and bowling first have won two matches apiece. The ideal choice in this fixture will be to bowl first, make use of the early moisture on the surface to assist the fast bowlers, restrict the opponents to a low score, and chase down the target.
Toss Prediction: Glasgow Comsics to win the coin toss
It is set to be an even contest between these two bottom-placed teams, and the odds are equally split. However, looking at their recent form, the Dublin Guardians have performed much better in the Dublin leg so far, whereas the Glasgow Cosmics haven't been able to put up much of a fight over their last three matches. We back the Dublin Guardians to win this match and secure their second win of the season.
