After India Women took the five match series 3-2, Harmanpreet Kaur will now be challenging her squad to come out on top across the up-coming three match ODI series.
However, that could be easier said than done as this England side will be hurting and desperate to get back to winning ways starting on Wednesday on the South Coast in Southampton!
Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt always knew these series would be a real litmus test of where her team really are and although they lost the WT20Is, they were competitive and in the series down to the final game.
Still without former captain Heather Knight who is out with injury, this represents an excellent opportunity for some England batters to make their mark with longer innings in this longer form of white-ball cricket.

Although it has been a summer of transition at a managerial and captaincy level, this England Women's side remains incredibly experienced and is a group who should all be peaking at around the same time.
Their last ODI experience was in late May and early June when Nat Sciver-Brunt's era began with three heavy victories over West Indies Women by 108 runs, 143 runs and nine wicket.
Make no mistake, this will be a much tougher challenger for England Women and they are up against an accomplished India Women side who have their confidence up in the UK.
Sciver-Brunt and Tammy Beaumont look to be the best options for England Women's best batters with Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer and Kate Cross likely to do the most damage with the ball.
Nat Sciver Brunt Total Runs Over 31.5 1.85
Nat Sciver-Brunt is set to return for the 1st ODI after recovering from injury. She has been in excellent form recently and has a fond memory at Southampton, where in the only match she has played at The Rose Bowl, she scored 111* runs. Against India, she has scored 428 runs in 14 matches, averaging 38.90. Given her good record against India and recent run of form, we back Nat Sciver-Brunt to score over 31 runs in the 1st ODI.

Although the India Women's bowling attack does not look quite as experienced as in previous tours and years, this is still a very talented team who will cause the hosts problems in this series and in this opener in Southampton.
And an added bonus for this India Women side is that they are street-wise, they know how to get over the finish line, particularly in these conditions in the UK. The weather may be a touch cooler than recent T20Is but it will still be warm and humid, something which the India Women's players will be happy to play in!
With the bat, this India Women team looks particularly strong with the tail not beginning until number ten!
At the top of the order Smriti Mandhana is an excellent player in this format and any of the top five could win an ODI single-handedly with an innings of individual brilliance!
Harleen Deol Total Runs Over 23.5 1.85
Harleen Deol has had a wonderful time in ODI cricket in 2025, where she has scored 289 runs in 8 matches, averaging 40.14. Against England, she has scored 69 runs in 4 matches, averaging 23. She is one of the key batters in the middle order for India and has scored runs consistently. Given her good run of form this year, we back Deol to score over 23 runs in today's match.

There will not be a great deal of sunny spells in Southampton during this game but the temperature will peak at 24 degrees and won't drop below 18 before the end of the match.

Minimal Turn
There is likely to be some rain in the Southampton area on Tuesday but this pitch has been experiencing the heatwave of late so we still expect a surface which will turn. A par first innings score will be around 290.
Total Match Score Under 560.5 1.72
The last Women's One Day International (WODI) played at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, was a high-scoring one, with a total match score of 591 runs. However, the average total match score in WODIs at this venue is 403 runs. Given that the Indian bowling unit has dominated against the England batters, a high-scoring game is unlikely. We predict it to be a moderate-scoring match, with the total match score being under 561 runs.
India Women to Win the Coin Toss 1.95
We back the visitors India Women to win the coin toss in the 1st ODI match against England played at Southampton.
The best batting conditions look like being earlier in the day and the temperature will drop into the evening. Therefore, we predict that both sides will want to bat first!
With the T20I series finishing 3-2, we are anticipating another closely contested run of games in the ODIs. Our prediction is for a tight match in Southampton but England's greater experience in these conditions to be beneficial over the 100 overs!
We are backing England Women to win.
