Match six of the 2025 CSA Women's Division Two T20 brings Free State Women and Limpopo Women together at the Manguang Oval in Bloemfontein on Sunday morning.
Both teams are desperate for a victory although at this early stage of the season there is still plenty of time for both to turn their campaigns around and challenge at the top of Division Two.
Free State Women were narrowly beaten by 10 runs (DLS) in their opening game against Mpumalanga Women so will only need a few tweaks to be competitive in this clash.
As for Limpopo Women, this is their opening match of the campaign and they will be keen for a fast start.
It was a strange opening game of this campaign for Free State Women who were in the field for 20 overs before rain arrived and they were given only six overs to reach their target of 40.
As a result, their bowling attack got plenty of miles in their legs and are certainly game-ready for this fixture after taking six wickets.
As for the batters, this game will hopefully give them an opportunity to play their natural game as opposed to go for a quick hit in their opening clash in match two.
With the bat, we expect G Erasmus and Rethabile Nthoba to be the main aggressors.
As for the bowlers, look no further than Nthoba and C Vos to cause issues!
Danielle Weber (wk), Rethabile Nthoba, G Erasmus, Jenna Lubbe, Bokamoso Motsabi, Lebohang Rakoeane, Loeze Lottering, Tokologo Motsepe, C Vos (c), Mampe Ntsane, Simone Mouton
Limpopo Women were well beaten in all four of their game in their last campaign during this competition and there needs to be improvement with the bat, ball and in the field if they are to be competitive this time around.
With the ball, Khushi Mistry is a fine bowler at this level, while M Seleka and Akani Mashimbyi are both consistent enough with plenty of ability to pick up wickets.
Batting wise, expect skipper K Manyaga and P Dlamani to both play in an attacking manner, Salphina Motloutsi is also a fine aggressor but often struggles in her first few deliveries.
All in all, Limpopo Women need to step up immediately in their first fixture of this season.
D Tsotetsi, P Dlamini, Salphina Motloutsi, K Manyaga (c) (wk), Khushi Mistry, K Skhosana, Akani Mashimbyi, M Seleka, T Maseka, Sophie Motloutsi, Z Twala
According to the forecast it will be a very nice and hot weekend in Bloemfontein. No rain is forecast across both days and Sunday will see the temperature up in the mid-high twenties!
The Manguang Oval will be baked by Sunday lunchtime so do not be surprised if the ball spins in this game. As a result, a par total is likely to be no higher than 125.
Neither side have had much batting time of late so our prediction is that the two captains will both want to bowl first ahead of the toss in this match on Sunday.
Neither team have much form in this format to fall back on but Free State Women have the benefit of already getting a game in with a full 20 overs in the field. We expect Free State Women to be too strong for Limpopo Women on Sunday.
We are backing Free State Women to win!
