It was another defeat for Gujarat Titans in their last game, Match 52 against RCB, and they never looked like getting the win after being dismissed for 147. At one stage the Titans were 19/3 and it required some rebuilding from the middle-order to get them to a vaguely defendable total.

The problem for Titans has been that they have not scored enough runs throughout this tournament or done so at a quick enough rate. Hardik Pandya leaving for Mumbai Indians has left a massive gulf in the side with bat, ball and leadership. They have also lost Mohammed Shami to injury and they are a pale imitation of their 2022 and 2023 counterparts.

They have shown very little which makes anyone think they will win this game.

The battle of the Kings was won by Chennai against Punjab Kings in Match 53 in Dharamsala. The victory has put CSK into a strong position ahead of these final group stage fixtures and there will be plenty of confidence within the group ahead of this game.

We have seen the growth of Ruturaj Gaikwad as a leader in this tournament with him slowly emerging from MS Dhoni's shadow in a way that Ravindra Jadeja was never able to. But that said, Jadeja has shown the value of no pressure and playing in the ranks - he took the Player of the Match Award with 43 runs (26 balls) and 3/20 against Punjab.
