After beginning their One-Day Cup campaign for this season at Sookholme against Nottinghamshire, Essex travel down to the south coast where they will be hosted by Hampshire Hawks.
As for the Hawks, this will be their first game of this campaign at home in front of their own fans after beginning with a trip to Wales and to Neath to take on Glamorgan earlier this week.
Although both teams will be without a significant number of their marquee players who will be in action for their franchise sides in The Hundred, the squads of both sides are impressive.
It is also a chance for some younger players and national counties players to stake a claim for a long-term professional contract so this should be an excellent contest.

Although the likes of James Vince and Liam Dawson, two of Hampshire's finest ever white ball players will not be available for this game due to commitments in The Hundred, Hampshire Hawks will still field an excellent team with a mixture of youth and experience for this clash!
At the younger end of the spectrum are pace bowlers Dominic Kelly and Andrew Neal who are expected to share the new ball, while the opening pair of Nick Gubbins and Scotland international Brandon McMullen bring experience.
In the middle of both ends of the spectrum sits the super talented Indian Tilak Varma who has the ability to be the top run scorer across all sides in this competition.
Hampshire are always well supported in this competition and we expect a large crowd to cheer them on in this game on Thursday.

Following their trip to Mansfield to take on Nottinghamshire on Tuesday, Essex will be back down south for this fixture and will be looking forward to this clash at the Rose Bowl.
Unlike some sides, Essex's squad has not been robbed of many of their great players for this competition but there are still gaps for new players to exploit and make a name for themselves.
Experience comes from captain Tom Westley, Matt Critchley, Robin Das and Jamie Porter while Charlie Allison has been in fine form in other formats already this season.
Tall pace bowler Shane Snater comes into this tournament following impressive performances in the County Championship.

There is a chance that it won't rain at all on Thursday but there will be some cloud cover and high humidity levels from start to finish in Southampton. The highest temperature will be 21 degrees.
The Rose Bowl is an excellent venue for cricket both as players and spectators. This should be a good batting wicket with a par score likely to be approaching 350 on Thursday.
With the weather forecast indicating overcast and the chance of rain in Southampton, we predict that both sides will choose to bowl first if they win the toss on Thursday.
