Hyderabad suffered a big collapse in their second match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. They were outplayed by Bengal and will now face the mighty Rajasthan who have won back-to-back matches.

While skipper Tilak Verma continued to be in form others around him had no answers to Bengal’s bowlers. Rajasthan also have an in-form skipper who’s delivered brilliant knocks in both games so far.

Mahipal Lomror has the support of Deepak Hooda in the middle order and the two will be key players to watch out for in Rajasthan. The great news for Rajasthan is that almost all of their top 5 batters are in fine touch and have delivered big including the two openers.

Hyderabad kicked off with a huge win over Meghalaya on the back of a brilliant hundred from skipper Tilak Verma. Opening batter Tanmay Agarwal also played a handy knock in that game helping Hyderabad to a big score.

However, except for Verma, no other top-order batsman could find their rhythm and get going against Bengal. G Rahul Singh’s batting struggles continued while Rahul Buddhi was the second highest scorer with his 30 off 23 balls knock at number 4.

We reckon the pitch is not as great as the one at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium C where both Hyderabad and Rajasthan have scored 200+ runs. 

A quick turnaround is expected of the Hyderabad batters as they take on an in-form Rajasthan. They should consider bowling first and putting the Rajasthan batting lineup to test on this pitch.

T Ravi Teja will be leading the bowling attack. He looks promising and will need the support of fellow bowlers like Tanay Thyagarajan and Chama V Milind. It will not be an easy outing for Hyderabad, but they cannot be counted out after just one loss considering their overall squad strength.

Rajasthan need to gear up for the change in venue as they will be playing at a different pitch than the one they’ve scored two 200+ totals on. Abhijeet Tomar and Bharath Sharma have been exceptional as openers and will be the ones to watch out for in this game.

Deepak Hooda and skipper Mahipal Lomror are in fine touch in the middle order and will be expected to deliver big partnerships. These two will be the key wickets Hyderabad will be gunning for.

The likes of Kartik Sharma and Zubair Ali have looked promising too in the lower middle order and that is a great piece of news for Rajasthan coming into this match.

Not only can they be the finishers for the team but in case one of their star batters falls early on, Ali and Sharma could step up and deliver impactful performances to lead Rajasthan to a competitive total.

Rajasthan have got Deepak Chahar in the bowling attack who is also a very handy batter lower down the order and can play the big shots. There is great variety in this bowling attack that also features Rahul Chahar, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and right-arm off-break Deepak Hooda.

Nagarkoti has picked up 3 wickets in the last two games at an impressive economy and so has Rahul Chahar. It is a strong overall squad and will pose a tough challenge to Hyderabad in this game.
