Elite Group C of the Senior Women's One-Day Cup has six teams bunched together on four points after two rounds with only Tripura Women yet to put a point on the board and Railways Women the solitary side with a 100% winning record.
Both teams in this clash are part of the teams on four points although Hyderabad and Kerala have enjoyed hugely different experiences in this tournament so far.
Hyderabad Women beat Tripura Women by 58 runs in their opener but were then beaten by Goa Women by 51 runs on Sunday, a match dominated by Prashant Verlekar who Hyderabad were unable to dismiss on her way to 166 not out.
As for Kerala Women, they were being written off after a 131 run defeat against Railways Women but showed huge character to then see off Saurashtra Women by 111 runs!
Despite the monumental batting effort from Goa Women opener Prashant Verlekar in the last game, Hyderabad Women's bowlers did still put in a good shift, dismissing the opponents with only M. S. Rao and skipper M. Kavya going wicketless across their combined 12 overs.
Coming into this match in strong form are new ball bowler S. Yashasri (2/35) and K. Niteesha (2/21).
Ultimately, Hyderabad Women's batters were unable to match the exploits of Verlekar although opener S. Gora had a good go at it hitting 83 runs from 101 balls.
She will need some back-up this time from either opening partner G. Trisha amd A. Semwa in the middle order.
G. Trisha, S. Gora, K. Niteesha, V. Pooja, A. Semwa, M. Kavya (c), K. Nidhi (wk), M. S. Rao, S. Yashasri, Siri Chandana, D. Kesari
For most teams, posting just 187/9 from their 50 overs in the first innings of a game would spell defeat, particularly after they had been thrashed by over 100 runs in their opening game.
However, Kerala Women are made of stern stuff and not only showed some fantastic ability and skill with the ball, but also displayed bags of character to dismiss Saurashtra Women for just 76!
Keeper-batter Vaishna MP could be pushed up the order after top scoring from number eight in the last game with the openers both struggling to score fluently.
With the ball, Asha. S was the star against Saurashtra Women, returning incredible figures of 6/13 from her ten overs and we can expect her to bowl her full allocation once again in this fixture.
S. Sasidharan (c), A. Sadanandan, IV Drishya, P. Chandra, Asha. S, S. Sajana, N. Noushad, Vaishna MP (wk), S. Dangore, K. James, M. Suresh
Humidity is unlikely to be a big issue during this game with levels not expected to hit anything above 40%. There will be clear skies throughout with the top temperature of around 26 degrees.
The JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi offers a two-paced wicket which some batters can struggle on when they first come to the wicket. Expect a par total of around 250-270 in the first innings of the clash.
Kerala Women won the toss, chose to bat and won their last game whereas Hyderabad Women were asked to field first and were beaten in their last match. Therefore, we predict that both sides will choose to bat first if they win the toss ahead of this fixture.
Both sides have shown frailties across their opening two matches so we are looking for who has the match-winner in their side. Kerala Women look to have unearthed a bowler who can do just that so we are backing them to make it two victories on the bounce.
