It is time for the ultimate show down as India take on the United States of America in match 3 of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2026 on Saturday, 7th February. The venue for this match is the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the scheduled start time is 7:00 PM IST.
The defending champions begin their quest to regain the title in the group phase against a side that is known for causing upsets and troubled India in the 2024 World Cup. So it's pretty much not gonna be a one-sided contest as it might look, especially at Wankhede where dew play's a major role and toss is gonna be key.

India look well set to defend their title by the way they have played in recent times winning five of the six T20I's in this year and every time they step onto the field it's been a nightmare for bowling sides.
Ishan Kishan's injection into the opening spot in the warm-up match is a clear sign, that India will indeed open with him and pair him alongside the explosive Abhishek Sharma. If these two players get going in the powerplay all you can expect is India to score around 80-90 runs in the first 6 overs.
Tilak Varma showed why he is the preferred number 3 with a phenomenal quick fire cameo in the warm-up match against the Proteas. While the skipper Suryakumar Yadav has scored close to 250 runs, averaging over 80 and striking at well over 170 this year. With Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube and Axar Patel all in good form, India can beat the opponents out of the game with their batting on a good Wankhede track.
In the bowling department all eyes will be on Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh the two main seam bowlers for India, while it's a no brainer on Varun Chakravarthy coming in straight away. But it's with the fourth bowling option that India has a headache with it will be intresting to see if they play Kuldeep Yadav or Harshit Rana.
Interesting Stats
1. India scored over 60 runs in the first six overs in four of the last six T20I's played.
2. Opening batter Abhishek Sharma has smashed 15 sixes in 5 matches this year, averaging 3 sixes per match.
3. Jasprit Bumrah has picked up 67 wickets in 51 T20's while playing at Wankhede Stadium.
Ishan Kishan Total Runs Over 24.5 1.85
Since his comeback to the Indian team, Ishan Kishan has scored 215 runs in his last four matches, smashing one century and two fifties. In the warm-up match against South Africa, he carried his good form forward, scoring a half-century within the first six overs. Given the batting-friendly track at Wankhede, we expect Kishan to tee off and score over 24 runs.

The United States of America (USA) played two quality games in the warm-up matches, scoring over 200 runs in both encounters, but they couldn’t get over the line as both totals came while chasing.
In the batting department, USA will look to the experience of Andries Gous to get them off to a strong start at the top. If he gets going, USA will definitely be in the game. Alongside him, Saiteja Mukkamalla is expected to open the innings, while skipper Monank Patel will bat at number three.
The real strength and versatility lie in the middle order, featuring Milind Kumar, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, and Shubham Ranjane. Ranjane, a local Mumbai lad who has settled in the USA, is set for a bit of a homecoming and knows the conditions at the Wankhede Stadium well. All three batters strike at over 150, and you would expect at least one of them to score 25-plus runs with a quick-fire cameo.
Two other players who played much of their early cricket at Wankhede are Saurabh Netravalkar and Shubham Ranjane. Netravalkar troubled India last time around, dismissing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He is one of USA’s biggest strengths, as he can swing the ball both ways, and Indian openers have sometimes struggled against the outswinger. Ali Khan, Shubham Ranjane, and Shadley van Schalkwyk provide the other fast-bowling options for USA.
The spin department also looks strong, with Harmeet Singh, Milind Kumar, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, and Mohammad Mohsin. The biggest asset for USA is the variety they possess: a left-arm spinner, two off-spinners, and a leg-spinner. This variety could come into play, especially the two off-spinners against a left-handed-heavy opposition.
Interesting Stats
1. USA on average score at 8 runs per over in the powerplay.
2. USA's captain, Monank Patel has scored over 65 runs in four of the last five T20I's.
Andries Gous Total Runs Over 16.5 1.85
Andries Gous scored 219 runs in 6 matches during the 2024 edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He is a big-match player with a wealth of experience under his belt and is coming off the back of some excellent form in the recently concluded ILT20, where he scored 228 runs in 6 matches at an average of 57. Given his current run of form, expect an impactful knock from Gous at the top and for his score to exceed 16 runs.

Mumbai will experience a pleasant Saturday evening with clear, sunny conditions. Temperatures will remain close to 30°C, humidity around 42 percent, and steady winds near 21 km/h, so a good hard track can be expected for this game given the conditions.

The pitch at Wankhede Stadium favours the batters and is a high scoring ground, where the teams bowling first won five of the nine matches played and the average 1st innings score is a staggering 197 runs. Expect a high scoring game, where if India bats first, given their current form over 230 runs is on the cards and if USA bat first they can score over 180 runs.
India to win the coin toss 1.90
We back India to win the coin toss in today's Group A match against USA at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
At Wankhede Stadium where dew plays a huge role it's a no brainer where team's that win the toss without a second hesitation opt to bowl first. Any score at this venue can be chased down in the later stages of the game. Both teams will look to bowl first restrict their opponents to a decent score, where in the initial stages the conditions will favour the bowlers.
India are the favourites to win this match, they have been in superb dominating form since late December and beating a top calibre side like this is no way possible for a slightly inexperienced USA side in T20I's. We back the home team India to start their campaign with a dominant victory and get on the board.
