India Champions Preview

India Champions head into their fifth match of the World Championship of Legends 2026 with a mixed campaign so far. They started strongly with a 46 run win over Australia Champions but have since suffered three consecutive defeats - against England Champions, South Africa Champions and Bangladesh Champions.

Robin Uthappa has been the most consistent batter, topping the side’s run charts with 123 runs in three innings. His best performance came against South Africa Champions when he scored 77 runs off 31 balls in a losing effort.

All-rounders Rishi Dhawan (92 runs) and Stuart Binny (78 runs) have also made useful contributions, while Ambati Rayudu (73 runs), Yuvraj Singh (71 runs) and Yusuf Pathan (69 runs) have been very inconsistent. There were huge expectations on the shoulders of the trio, who have performed below expectations.

In the bowling department, Piyush Chawla and Dhawal Kulkarni lead the way with 7 wickets each. Mohit Sharma has taken four, while Pawan Negi, Rishi Dhawan and Abhimanyu Mithun have 3 wickets apiece.

India Champions will be desperate to arrest their losing streak and produce a more clinical all-round performance against West Indies Champions in Sharjah in their last league phase game.

India Champions Predicted Playing XI:

Ambati Rayudu, Robin Uthappa (WK), Yuvraj Singh (C), Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Stuart Binny, Pawan Negi, Rishi Dhawan, Dhawal Kulkarni, Piyush Chawla, Mohit Sharma.

They suffered a heavy defeat against South Africa Champions but bounced back with impressive victories over England Champions and Bangladesh Champions before falling short against Australia Champions.

The pitch is typically dry and slows as the match progresses. Pacers can extract some early movement with the new ball, but spinners become increasingly effective with grip and turn in the middle overs. Short boundaries (around 60-65 metres) reward aggressive batting once players settle.

Toss: To Bat

The captain who win the toss might want to bat first given the recent results. The surface tends to get slower as the game progresses, however, with no dew seen, chasing teams have found it difficult on most occasions.

India Champions are slight favourites. Their bowling unit, led by Piyush Chawla and Dhawal Kulkarni with seven wickets each, has been the stronger department and gives them a clear edge on the slowing Sharjah surface. West Indies Champions possess dangerous batting in Chadwick Walton and Chris Gayle, but India’s experienced attack and superior head-to-head record should prove decisive in this must win clash.
