The Sharjah Cricket Stadium looks all set to host the all-important 12th fixture of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2024 between UAE U-19 and India U-19. This Group A fixture is expected to kick off at 10:30 AM IST. Both teams are currently at par with each other with one win apiece. While Pakistan U-19 have sealed the top spot in the Group A points table, the second spot still remains up for grabs. It is a virtual knockout match and whichever team manages to hold their nerve shall proceed to the next round of the tournament.
Head to Head Record: UAE U-19 and India U-19 have only met in three YODIs to date. India U-19 have emerged victorious in all three of them. UAE U-19 are in the midst of a dry run and are still searching for their maiden victory against India U-19 in this format.
Current Standings: Both teams are almost neck-and-neck in the Group A points table. UAE U-19 are placed slightly higher in the points table at number two position whereas India U-19 are not so far behind at number three. India U-19 would have been disappointed with the way things panned out against their arch-rivals Pakistan U-19 in their tournament opener. However, the young Indian side were quick to stage a stunning turnaround in their next game against Japan U-19. The team is now back to winning ways and will be up against an opponent who has by large been vulnerable against them in the YODI format.
India posted the tournament's highest team total of 339 thanks to some valuable contributions from Mhatre, Amaan, and Karthikeya. The skipper led from the front and played a captain's innings smashing a brilliant 122 off 118 to take India to a gigantic first-innings score. Their bowlers did the rest as Chetan, Karthikeya, and Hardik snapped two wickets each to choke Japan U-19 cheaply in the run chase.
The India U-19 captain Mohd Amaan has scored the most number of runs for India U-19 in this competition and has 138 runs under his belt which includes his best score of 122*. He will certainly be a threat to watch out for with the bat. Samarth Nagaraj has been the leading wicket-taker for India U-19 in this Asia Cup edition and averages 31 with 3 wickets under his kitty.

UAE U-19 commenced their Asia Cup campaign with a bang registering a crushing 273-win against Japan UP-19. However, they soon received a stiff reality check in their following game against Pakistan u-19 where they were blown away by 69 runs. It is due to their monumental victory against Japan U-19 their NRR is still on the higher side as opposed to India. But they will have to regroup and quickly brace themselves from the onslaught of a hungry India U-19 side who have an unbeaten track record against them.
The UAE bowlers were thrown under the bus by Shahzaib and Riaz Ullah and found no life when the Pakistani batters were at their peak. Only Ayobi and Suri had some impact with the ball claiming three wickets between them. A disappointing outing from the rest of the USE bowlers allowed Pakistan to mount a monstrous target of 315. Ethan D'Souza and Muhammad Rayan tried to take the fight back to the Pakistan bowlers by smashing impressive scores of 84 (112) and 50 (66) respectively but the rest of the batting unit failed to keep up with the soaring asking rate.
While Ethan had shown promise with the bat in the last game, Aryan Saxena still remains the highest run scorer for his side with 174 runs in two innings. Uddish Suri continues to be a threat with the ball for UAE U-19 and is the highest wicket-taker for them in this competition averaging 10.8 with 5 wickets to his name.

The entire day will be pleasant and sunny, and there is no chance of rain. We should expect moderate humidity levels of roughly 42% during the day, even if the temperature would be between 19 and 28 degrees Celsius. There will be a moderate breeze of 14 km/hr.

The Sharjah pitch is a sluggish and slow surface. Additionally, the slower bowlers are affected by the pitch's dryness. If bowlers consistently place the ball in the right areas, they can reap significant rewards. As the game progresses, the ball becomes increasingly difficult to time, and batters often resort to high-risk shots to score runs. In the first innings, scoring runs is much easier against the hard, new ball.
12 out of 16 YODI's played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium have been won by the team batting first and the trend in the ongoing ACC Men's Asia Cup has been no different where the teams batting first have won four of the five games played in the tournament so far. The captain winning the toss ideally will look to bat first.
This will be a crucial fixture as both teams will be desperately looking for a win to stay alive in this tournament. One minor slip-up could seal the fate for either of the two sides if that were to happen. We can expect the game to go down the wire but given India U-19's demonstrated win record of 3-0 against the hosts, India U-19 may just be able to get over the line and book the second spot in the semi-final stage.
