We are already five matches into this year's SA20 and so far we have seen four different sides pick up victories with only Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape yet to register a win.
Both of the teams involved in this game, MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals, have got a victory but MI Cape Town showed it is one thing to win one match but a tougher proposition to follow it up with another!
MI Cape Town easily got the better of Sunrisers Eastern Cape on Thursday and Paarl Royals found the same opposition to be a pushover on Saturday so this game may well give us a better insight into the actual levels of both sides.
There is all to play for at this still early stage of the tournament when the teams meet at Newlands.

After such a fine win over Sunrisers Eastern Cape in their opening game, MI Cape Town's batters struggled to produce the goods once again against Joburg Super Kings and found themselves in deep trouble when batting first on 8/1, 12/2, 26/3 and 30/4. That they eventually posted 140/6, came down to some lusty hitting from George Linde and Delano Potgieter for the seventh wicket but the team management will be looking for the likes of Rassie van der Dussen, Reeza Hendricks, Colin Ingram and Dewald Brevis to deliver in this game.
With the ball, and in poor weather, the strong MI Cape Town bowling attack were unable to tame the likes of Faf du Plessis and Leus du Plooy but they should still have plenty of confidence in the attack which includes Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan come this match on Monday!
Ingram has had good start to his SA20 campaign where he has notched up scores of 11 & 22. The southpaw got off to good starts in both the matches, but gifted his wicket away by playing rash shots. He is a sureshot batter for this game to bet on to score over 17.5 runs, considering the way he batted in both the games.

There were plenty of question marks hanging around Paarl Royals in terms of their chances and the make-up of their batting order ahead of their opening game against Sunrisers Eastern Cape, but it seems that all the pre-tournament chatter missed the mark as their opening pair put on 132 from 13 overs as the side coasted home with eight balls and nine wickets remaining.
Ahead of this match, skipper David Miller will be looking for more from the bowling attack who picked up only four wickets with the ball at Boland Park. Kwena Maphaka and Mujeeb Ur Rahman both took two wickets each but the more experienced pair of Bjorn Fortuin and Lungi Ngidi will be needed to step up also in this match.
With the bat, Joe Root showed there is still a place for a reliable batter in this format, hitting 62 not out from 44 balls but it is his opening partner, Lhuan-dre Pretorius who announced himself to the world with 97 from 51 on his SA20 debut, who most will be excited about watching in this game.
MI Cape Town top order has struggled big time this season, where MI has managed to score an average of 28 runs in the powerplay overs this season and failed to even cross the 40 run mark. At Newlands, the conditions get much tougher for batters earlier in the innings and we predict a low scoring powerplay from MI.
Joe Root started his SA20 career with a bang scoring a well timed half century against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape on Saturday. The technique and time that he posses facing the new ball and maneuvering the spinners in the middle overs, Root is tailor made for this conditions and we back him to have another good outing with the bat in today's match and score over 21 runs.

The weather forecast for Cape Town on Monday is for warm and progressively more humid conditions as the afternoon turns to evening. The temperature will be over 20 degrees from start to finish and will peak at 26.
Newlands remains one of the best places to play and watch cricket in the world. We can expect plenty of bounce and pace in the wicket with the stroke-making batters on both sides looking forward to the opportunity to make big scores.
Three of the four head to head matches played between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals have resulted in less than 13.5 wickets per match. Last season in the matches played at Newlands 57% of the matches have resulted in less than 14 wickets per game.
MI Cape Town won three of the four coin tosses against the Paarl Royals this season and but this season MI are 0-2 in coin tosses, while the Royals are 0-1. Both teams are yet to win a coin toss this season and for today's match, we predict the luck to be in favour of the home team MI Cape Town.
The pitch at Newlands, Cape Town offers a balanced track that favours both the bowlers and batters. The average total match score in the 6 matches played at Newlands last season is 323 runs. Only one of the four games played between Paarl and MI Cape Town have seen scores in excess of over 330, while the rest have been between the 290-330 run mark.
The four completed games in the tournament have been won twice by the team fielding first and twice by those batting first. This is a different venue though so we expect both teams to want to bowl first ahead of this match.
We do not expect one team to dominate this game with both sides possessing very strong bowling attacks alongside talented batting line-ups. Overall, we are backing the stronger bowling attack at MI Cape Town to make the difference but it will not be a walkover!
We are backing MI Cape Town to win!
