With the Ashes underway over the Trans-Tasman sea, New Zealand and West Indies will look to steal a march earlier this week when they go head to head in their first Test meeting since 2020.
That fixture was in Wellington in December of that year and New Zealand came out on top with a winning margin of over an innings for the third time in the last four head to heads.
Not that the other match was close - the Black Caps won by 240 runs!
All of the pre-series chatter is of New Zealand thrashing West Indies and so it is imperative that the tourists get off to a strong start in this three-Test pre-Christmas series.

There are three decisions for the New Zealand team management to wrestle with ahead of this first Test of the three match series with the hosts having options at the top, the middle and at the end of their batting order.
The choice in the opening position is between left-handed Devon Conway and right-handed Will Young. Although Conway got off to an impressive international start, his numbers have levelled off of late and Young has never let his country down when he has had the opportunity to do so.
Mitchell Santner is expected to get the nod over Michael Bracewell to play the all-round spin option with the white-ball skipper more than capable of winning a Test with bat and ball.
Matt Henry will lead the pace attack and he is expected to be joined by Zak Foulkes and Blair Tickner.

The tourists will confirm their team at the toss but the word around their pre-match press conference was that former PE Teacher Ojay Shields would make his international debut at 29 years of age!
After losing the T20Is 3-1 and then failing to win any of the ODIs, going down 3-0, this red-ball final leg of the tour gives West Indies an opportunity to still win a series.
Of late, West Indies have struggled in the longer format, going down 2-0 against India, losing by an innings and by seven wickets in October, which came only two months after a 3-0 home loss against Australia!
Expect Shai Hope to be crucial with the bat and Kemar Roach to be the main man with the ball.

The forecast looks pretty gloomy over the first three days of this Test with plenty of cloud cover and a high temperature of 21 degrees. There could also be some rain interruptions.
Do not be surprised if there is a green top at Hagley Oval particularly in the first session. Getting through the new ball will be crucial but whichever team is able to do that should then be able to post a total of 350+.
Although the last three Tests in Christchurch have been won by the team bowling first, we expect both sides to want to bat first and post a big total in this Test.
All roads point to a home win in this Test. Not only were New Zealand dominant in the two white-ball series in November, but they are also very strong at home in Tests. West Indies have been struggling for a long time and we do not see their long wait for a victory in New Zealand coming to an end this week.
We are backing New Zealand to win!
