Otago conceded 346 runs in the first innings of the last round of the Plunket Shield and never quite recovered. Giving up a lead of just under 60 runs across both first innings, Luke Georgeson's side were never able to get back into the game and try as they might, they went down by a large margin in Hamilton.
So, ahead of this match in Dunedin, where do Otago need to improve?
With the bat, Joe Carter impressed, making scores of 52 and 119 while the likes of Bharat Popli and Brett Hampton come into this game after making half-centuries in one of the innings.
Bowling wise, Toby Hart took six wickets in the first innings against Northern Districts while captain Georgeson is a very consistent performer picking up two wickets in both innings last week.

Critical to the success, was the top order for Central Districts with all of Taylor Bettelheim, Curtis Heaphy and Brad Schmulian all making significant contributions. They also have runs down the order as shown by William Clark who hit 70 in the third innings of the match from number eight. Bowling wise, expect Raymond Toole and Josh Clarkson to lead the way with Ajaz Patel an excellent fourth innings spin opti

The University Oval has a lush outfield which normally sees the ball race to the boundary from anything well timed. We expect a par total to be in the region of 350 in the first innings of the match.
With the weather expected to get worse as the game progresses from day two onwards, we predict that both sides will be looking to bat first ahead of this fixture.
Match 12 has all the ingredients of being a cracker with Central Districts in fine form and the hosts Otago looking to bounce back from their heavy loss last time out. We expect a close contest with Central Districts coming out on top.
We are backing Central Districts to win!
