Getting off to a losing start in the Plunket Shield is not terminal and hopefully will not be so for either Wellington or Central Districts ahead of this clash which begins on Wednesday.
This is the second game in a row for Wellington in front of their home fans and they will be looking for a much improved showing after their side were forced to follow on after conceding 522/9 in the first innings of the game then only posting 224 themselves.
As for Central Districts, they were beaten by an innings so also will be low in confidence ahead of this trip to Wellington.
Both teams need to improve with bat and ball, not to mention in the field, but there is a victory available for whichever team grasps the conditions and puts in a strong performance.

Gareth Severin, Nick Kelly, Tim Robinson and Jesse Tashkoff all performed well at times with the bat in the opening game defeat against Otago but they will need to perform in unison this time around or Wellington could well find themselves with two defeats from two games.
Their opening pair of Sam Mucock and Nick Greenwood need to up their levels after disappointing returns against Otago and four more failures in this game could see a change in the batting order.
Bowling wise, Wellington have some good variety but the question is whether or not they have the ability.
James Hartshorn and Liam Dudding will get the new ball to talk but question marks remain over their ability to control line and length.
Nick Greenwood comes into the match following figures of 3/40 in the opening innings last week.
Sam Mycock, Nick Greenwood, Gareth Severin, Nick Kelly, Tim Robinson, Tom Blundell (c) (wk), Jesse Tashkoff, Peter Younghusband, Michael Snedden, James Hartshorn, Liam Dudding

Central Districts were well beaten by Auckland in their opening game and have work to do in their batting line-up and bowling unit if they are to find a way to get a win in Wellington.
Captain Jayden Lennox will be most concerned about the lack of runs in the team after they made only 191 in their first innings of the game and were then bowled out for 154 when following on!
With the ball, Josh Clarkson impressed with the new ball against Auckland while Raymond Toole also picked up two wickets after sharing new ball duties.
All in all, Central Districts need to improve in all departments!

Basin Reserve is a consistent wicket which delivers pace and bounce for both teams. Whoever bats first will be looking to post a score in the region of 280-300.
With the conditions set to be tough for batting over the first two days of this game, we predict that both teams will want to bowl first should they win the toss.
