After both sides won their opening two games in the 2025/26 Marsh Cup, something will have to give when Queensland host Tasmania at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Thursday!
Queensland defeated Victoria by batting first before successfully chasing down a target against Western Australia and Tasmania have also won from two different positions so this should be an excellent contest.
Interestingly, the narrower victories were when both sides were chasing, so perhaps both teams will want to bat first in Thursday's contest.
The last 50 over contest between the sides was reduced due to rain so all sides and fans will be hoping for a full game when this table topping fixture gets underway.

A target of 322 looked a long way off for Queensland in their last game against Western Australia at the Allan Border Field when they found themselves in serious trouble on 38/4 before the end of the 13th over!
However, an unbeaten century from Hugh Weibgen, which included nine fours and five sixes, coupled with 42 runs from 49 balls from Lachlan Hearn, an incredible 74 runs from just 49 balls and 41 from 23 balls from Michael Neser showed off the batting depth in this Queensland side.
All of the above could well deliver again, as could opener Jimmy Peirson, skipper Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw who has just received an international recall.
With the ball, spinner Mitchell Swepson will get plenty of turn on this pitch and Tom Straker will also be a real handful for opposing batters.

Weight of runs in the first innings proved the key for Tasmania in their last game in this competition and they will be looking forward to playing at the same venue in this game!
That said, there are batters at the top of the order who will be wanting to right a few wrongs after opener Caleb Jewell and Jake Weatherald both made ducks in the win over Victoria.
Mitchell Owen, Beau Webster, Matthew Wade and Nikhil Chaudhary all come into this game in fine form with the bat.
With the ball, Owen took 4/57 and Webster also impressed with 2/51 last week. Spinner Matthew Kuhnemann will have a critical role to play as well and will need an encouraging first over with his confidence currently low.

The weather is always beautiful in Brisbane at this time of year and even with this being a day-night fixture, the temperature will be no lower than 23 degrees at the end of the game. Expect sunshine and a high of 28!
The Allan Border Field has been the venue for some excellent contests already in this season's Marsh Cup. Expect a par total to be 350+ on a pitch which will turn for the spinners.
Both Queensland and Tasmania had comfortable wins when batting first but struggled to get over the line, although they did manage to do so, when bowling first in their opening games. Therefore, we predict that both will want to bat first on Thursday.
Both teams got over the line in their last matches despite poor batting performances at the top of the order and that will be a key area to watch in this game. We expect Queensland to be strongest in this game and are backing them to come out on top.
