Rajasthan Royals head into this match still fighting for a playoff place after having lost three games in a row and slipping to sixth place. What will make them extra nervous is that they have lost all three of their home games at Jaipur this season. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants are already eliminated from the competition after a poor season, languishing in the 10th spot with just eight points after 12 matches. RR are in the middle of a tight qualification race with 12 points from 12 games and cannot afford many more slip-ups, especially with teams around them also competing for the final top-four spots. Their recent three defeats have increased the pressure further, making this home fixture extremely important before the final week of the league stage.
Lucknow, meanwhile, have struggled for consistency despite possessing one of the strongest batting lineups in the tournament. LSG have lost several matches after failing to defend strong totals, with their death bowling repeatedly collapsing under pressure. However, their recent win against Chennai Super Kings showed that if their openers get going, they can be really difficult to stop. Moreover, LSG have won two of their last three games, and with RR under severe pressure, they will fancy their chances in this fixture.

Rajasthan Royals have now lost three in a row and have slipped to sixth place with 12 points from 12 games with an NRR of 0.027. Their remaining fixtures, however, are against teams that are already out of the race (LSG and MI), which will give them hope for a direct qualification.
Rajasthan’s batting has regularly put opposition attacks under pressure early, especially at Jaipur, where they have consistently scored quickly inside the first six overs. RR's successful run chases have generally been built around dominant powerplays, with Yashasvi Jaiswal attacking pace and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi maintaining tempo. Rajasthan’s chase of 223 against Punjab Kings earlier in the tournament highlighted their batting strength, while they also comfortably hunted down RCB’s total of 202 earlier after accelerating superbly through the early overs.
Their batting strength clearly lies in the powerplay and death overs. Sooryavanshi has been among the most destructive powerplay batters in IPL 2026, while Dhruv Jurel and Donovan Ferreira have regularly added late acceleration from overs 16-20. However, RR have occasionally struggled once early wickets fall, particularly against quality spin in the middle overs.
As for the bowling, Rajasthan have been overly dependent on their three wicket-taking bowlers. Jofra Archer has consistently provided early breakthroughs with pace, while Brijesh Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi have controlled scoring effectively during the middle phase on slower surfaces. RR’s biggest weakness, however, is the death overs, where they have leaked heavily in several close matches this season.
Key Players: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Jofra Archer
Why can Rajasthan Royals win this game?
Rajasthan Royals become extremely dangerous when Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dominate the powerplay. If RR can score quickly in the first six overs without losing multiple wickets, their middle order gets the freedom to attack spin aggressively through overs 7-15.
They have won three games while chasing and three while batting first, so they don't really have a strong inclination towards one. With the ball, RR will target Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis early because Lucknow’s batting has repeatedly slowed down after losing wickets inside the powerplay.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Total 6's Over 1.5 @ 2.00
Sooryavanshi has hit 43 sixes in 12 matches this season, the most by an Indian batter in a single season, where he is averaging more than 3 sixes per match. In four of the last five matches he has cleared the ropes more than two times.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Total Runs Over 26.5 @ 1.85
The southpaw is one of the most destructive batters who scores runs at a quick pace and often get's off to a flying start scoring cameos. He has scored past 30 runs in four of the last five matches played and has an excellent record at Jaipur (318 runs in 7 matches).
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel(w), Riyan Parag(c), Ravi Singh, Donovan Ferreira, Shubham Dubey, Jofra Archer, Adam Milne, Brijesh Sharma, Yash Raj Punja Impact subs: Dasun Shanaka, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Ravi Bishnoi

Lucknow Super Giants have already been eliminated from the playoff race, but they still are one of the most dangerous batting sides in the tournament. Their season has largely been built around explosive batting, with Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis driving the scoring rate above nine runs per over through the opening and middle phases. However, repeated batting and bowling failures have cost them several close matches.
LSG have generally looked more comfortable batting second this season, with three of their four wins coming while chasing. Their best performances have come when the top order dominates the powerplay and allows Pooran or Markram to attack spin during overs 7-15. Scores above 190 have usually kept them competitive, including major totals against Mumbai Indians (228-5) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (209-3) earlier in the season. The problem for Lucknow has been their inability to recover after early wickets, particularly while chasing under pressure. LSG will also rue the absence of Aiden Markram, who has left the tournament for personal reasons and will not be available for the team's final two games.
Their batting strength is in the middle overs. Marsh’s aggressive approach against pace has also helped LSG maintain momentum after the powerplay, while Rishabh Pant and Mukul Choudhary have provided important finishing contributions late in the innings.
In the bowling department, Lucknow have struggled at times in the death overs, regularly leaking boundaries from overs 16-20. However, their new-ball attack has still produced breakthroughs in the powerplay through Prince Yadav and Mohammed Shami, while Digvesh Singh Rathi is their key wicket-taking option during the middle overs.
Key Players: Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, Prince Yadav
Why can Lucknow Super Giants win this game?
Lucknow Super Giants are most dangerous when Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis provide a quick start in the powerplay, as they did against CSK the other night, smashing 86-0 in six overs. If LSG can reach around 65-70 without heavy damage in the first six overs, their middle-order hitters become extremely difficult to contain through overs 7-15.
Their chances will also improve if they bat second and force Rajasthan into a manageable total by getting their openers quickly. RR’s death bowling has been inconsistent throughout the season, and that suits hitters like Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant perfectly. From a bowling perspective, LSG will look to remove Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi early because Rajasthan’s batting has often slowed considerably once their aggressive opening stand is broken.
Josh Inglis Total Runs Over 24.5 @ 1.85
Inglis has made an impact in all the three matches he has played this season scoring 36, 85 and 13. The last time he played at Jaipur, Inglis scored a match winning knock of 73 runs vs Mumbai Indians. On a good batting track with good bounce and carry, Inglis will feast on such track and we predict his score to be over 24 runs in today's match.
Mitchell Marsh Total Runs Over 25.5 @ 1.85
Marsh showed what he can do when he get's going early on against CSK, where he smashed their bowlers with absolute disdain scoring 90 runs in 38 balls, striking at 236.84. He has scored past 25 runs in four of the last five matches. If Marsh can negate the early threat of Archer he will be hard to stop on a good batting tack at Jaipur, we back him to score 35+ runs.
Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Mukul Choudhary, Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Shami, Mayank Yadav, Akash Maharaj Singh, Prince Yadav Impact Subs: Akshat Raghuwanshi, Manimaran Siddharth, Digvesh Singh Rathi

Conditions are expected to stay hot and dry in Jaipur for this evening’s T20 clash. Around the 7:30 PM start time, temperatures are likely to hover in the mid-to-high 30s°C with only light winds and minimal chances of rain, ensuring uninterrupted play. Dew could settle in later during the second innings, which may aid chasing sides under lights.

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur has produced some of the highest-scoring games of IPL 2026. The average first-innings score across the last three matches at the venue this year has been around 227, with totals of 228, 225, and 229 all recorded during that period. The surface has played much flatter this season compared to previous years, allowing batters to attack consistently once they get through the first couple of overs.
The powerplay has been especially productive here because the ball comes nicely onto the bat, while the shorter square boundaries have made strokeplay easier against pace. Death overs have also turned into a major scoring phase at this venue. Teams have regularly scored at over 13 runs per over from overs 16-20, particularly in night games where dew has made yorkers difficult to execute.
Despite the high scores, chasing has not always been straightforward because the pitch tends to slow slightly as the innings progresses. However, teams batting second have still enjoyed a slight edge in IPL history at Jaipur, mainly because dew reduces the impact of spin during the chase. Anything below 220 has looked unsafe at this ground throughout IPL 2026, especially with the aggressive batting approaches both Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants prefer.
Lucknow Super Giants to win the coin toss @ 1.90
We back the Lucknow Super Giants to win the coin toss in today's match against the Rajasthan Royals.
At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, chasing has clearly been the better option in IPL 2026. Out of three matches played here this season, captains winning the toss have opted to field first on two occasions. The trend has also backed that decision, with two of those three games going in favor of the chasing side. With results heavily leaning towards teams batting second, the side bowling first in this contest will have a solid chance of winning.
This fixture could turn into one of the highest-scoring games of the week, considering how the Sawai Mansingh Stadium has behaved this season. The two sides already met earlier in the tournament, where Rajasthan Royals comfortably defeated Lucknow by 40 runs after posting 159-6. LSG’s death bowling again became a major problem in that game, with Rajasthan accelerating superbly after the 17th over, scoring 43 runs in them.
The matchup once again looks heavily dependent on the powerplay battle. Rajasthan have been one of the strongest powerplay batting teams this season whenever Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi get going, while Lucknow’s top order relies completely on Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis providing early momentum. If LSG lose wickets inside the first six overs, their scoring rate in the middle phase will depend on the form of Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant, who have been inconsistent. RR, meanwhile, will struggle if they lose Sooryavanshi inside the powerplay.
On paper, Rajasthan, despite having lost three in a row, appear slightly better suited to Jaipur conditions because of their stronger top-order form and familiarity with the venue’s scoring patterns. However, Lucknow’s top-order firepower still makes them dangerous in a high-scoring contest. We reckon Rajasthan Royals hold the edge here, especially if Sooryavanshi delivers another strong powerplay start. But the fact that they have lost all three of their IPL 2026 games at Jaipur makes them a little vulnerable as well.
Rajasthan Royals are our picks for the winners of this match.
