After a dramatic tie in their season opener against Hampshire Women, Somerset Women put up a clinical performance against Warwickshire Women at Edgbaston.
Bowling first after Warwickshire won the toss and elected to bat, Somerset’s attack successfully pulled back a fast start from the hosts. Medium-pacer Erin Vukusic led the bowling unit beautifully, picking up 3 wickets for 32 runs in her 4 overs.
Niamh Holland also chipped in with 2 wickets for 23 runs, helping restrict Warwickshire to 166/9 after they collapsed late in their innings.
Chasing a target of 167, Somerset's batters made the chase look effortless. Captain Sophie Luff set a blistering pace at the top, smashing a rapid 58 off just 33 balls.
Anika Learoyd then anchored the innings with a brilliant, unbeaten 60 off 49 balls. Somerset comfortably chased down the total with 10 balls to spare, finishing at 167/3 to secure a seven-wicket victory.
Somerset Women have been good with both bat and ball this season, especially their bowling upfront and in the middle overs has been top notch led by Niamh Holland with six wickets. The only real issue for Somerset is their spinners who have been a touch on the expensive side with the ball.
While in the batting their top order has done most of the scoring - Anika Learoyd (121 runs), Rebecca Odgers (71 runs) and Sophie Luff (63 runs) and their middle order is yet to be tested by any side.

Yorkshire Women's tough run early in the season continues as they lost two matches in a row both hard fought losses with the latest coming against Surrey Women at Headingley. Opting to bat first, Yorkshire's batters posted a below-par total of 133 all out in exactly 20 overs.
Openers Erin Thomas (42 off 29 balls) and captain Lauren Winfield-Hill (23) provided a fiery 60-run opening stand during the powerplay. However, the rest of the lineup collapsed against sharp spin and pace, with only Sterre Kalis (18) crossing double figures from the middle order.
Defending a low total, Yorkshire’s bowling attack showed great fight early on but ultimately ran out of runs to defend. Left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen was the standout performer, taking 3 wickets for 25 runs to trigger a middle-order collapse. Olivia Thomas (1 for 25) and Holly Garton (1 for 27) also picked up wickets, but the attack couldn’t contain the deep Surrey batting lineup.
Yorkshire's biggest problem is their fragile middle order and over reliance on their top four to do bulk of the scoring and in the bowling department their pacers haven't been able to provide early breakthroughs and the spinners have struggled to contain runs in the middle overs.
