It’s #2 vs #4 on the points table. Both teams head into this clash without dropping a match.
After their first fixture was rained out. Adelaide Strikers registered their first win of the season chasing down a formidable total in front of home fans against Sydney Thunder.
Sydney Sixers are on a bit of a roll, as well. Having picked up two wins in two matches, one against Renegades at home and another in Hobart, they’ll be hoping to win three games in a row and keep the streak going.
Adelaide Strikers, having begun the tournament with a bang, will want to put their best foot forward on Friday to improve that head-to-head record if to make sure the men from Sydney doesn’t pull clear.
Sydney Sixers have dominated the head to head, winning 12 of the 19 games they’ve played across all seasons, and are leading the most recent 5 encounters 3-2 as well.

Sydney Sixers sent a message out to other teams in the competition that they’re still a force to be reckoned with in the BBL despite some of their key players not being able to take part in the competition due to national duties.
The fanfare was focussed on players like Steve Smith in the opening game, but the talent sitting on the bench put their hand up and stepped up to the plate to help their team register an all-important away win against Hobart Hurricanes. Spearhead Sean Abbott didn’t feature in the bowling attack last game, but the other bowlers took it upon themselves to trouble the opposition. They never allowed the Hurricanes to get out of jail, tightened things up by picking up wickets at regular intervals, and restricted the men from Hobart to a total well below par.
And the batsmen completed the job thanks to Daniel Hughes, who came into the XI after Steve Smith left the squad for Test duties, for closing out the chase with a match-winning 60 not out in a low scoring thriller.
The team has a strong mix of international and local players ready to take on any challenge that Adelaide Strikers might throw at them with both bat and ball.

Hobart Hurricanes got away with the two points in their last encounter against Sydney Thunder but they looked a little uncomfortable and clueless at times when things weren’t in their control.
Their bowling attack couldn’t quite put the lid on the scoring and leaked runs from over 1 to 15. Captain Matthew Short and Wes Agar had an off day with the ball and James Bazley was belted out of the attack at the end of his first over, but the other bowlers combined to stem the flow of runs and did exceptionally well in the back end though.
The strip was perfect for batting, but 201 is a daunting total anyway. In reply, Matthew Short paired up with new recruit Darcy Short to put on a 139-run opening wicket partnership to give Strikers a great chance of closing out the match. But Chris Lynn and Jake Weatherald couldn’t get going at all, and it all came down to Englishman Adam Hose’s to wield his willow and pick up some much-needed boundaries.
And, he did deliver with a scintillating 28*(9) cameo and Strikers got home with 2 balls to spare. Sydney Sixers is a much sterner challenge but having pulled off a huge chase, Adelaide Strikers will be equal to the task.

The pitch at SCG typically offers enough assistance to both bat and ball, and it’s going to stay that way. The weather looks clear at the moment, with no threat of rain playing spoilsport.

Minimal TurnSydney Cricket Ground will host this contest. In the 57 BBL matches played here so far from BBL1 to BBL12, pacers (444 wickets at 8.03) have clearly dominated spinners (200 wickets at 6.99). 213/4 is the highest total scored here.
To chase down scores is clearly in vogue this season. Besides, Sydney Sixers have had more success chasing against this team in particular, so the home team Sixers will most likely put Strikers in to bat, should they win the flip.
Sydney Sixers are a much well-rounded team than Adelaide Strikers. The Sixers have great quality in their outfit with several international players in the mix, and that means Adelaide Strikers have got to be at the top of their game to be able to challenge them. We reckon Sixers will be simply too strong for them.
We are backing Sydney Sixers as the winners of this contest.
