Sydney Sixers Women began their campaign with a dominant 46-run win over the Brisbane Heat Women on a tough batting track at Hurstville Oval, and they now head to Bankstown Oval, where they will be playing for the first time in the T20 Spring Challenge.

The Sixers Women lost the toss against the Heat Women and were asked to bat first. Elsa Hunter (43 runs off 43 balls) and Claire Moore (27 runs off 24 balls) added 45 runs in 7.4 overs for the first wicket, both playing cautiously on a tricky track. 

Lauren Kua carried on the good work from the openers by adding 35 runs off 35 balls. Caoimhe Bray (11 runs) and Erin Burns (11 runs) chipped in with handy cameos at the end, as the Sixers Women finished on 136/3 in 20 overs.

Defending 137 runs, the Sixers Women's bowlers kept picking up wickets at regular intervals, not allowing any partnership to grow. Courtney Sippel was the standout bowler with figures of 3/13 in 4 overs, including one maiden over. Frankie Nicklin and Sarah Coyte picked up two wickets each, with both bowlers recording an economy rate under 6. Stella Campbell and Juliette Morton also chipped in with a wicket each.
