To add insult to injury, only the Saints have scored fewer goals and won fewer games than Everton. 

Sean Dyche made an abysmal start to the season with this club, losing 4 in a row. But ever since they’ve only lost 4 of their last 15. The issue has been with winning games - with the Toffees drawing 8. Out of 15 goals, only 7 have come from open play - the only side to score fewer than 10 from open play in the league. David Moyes might have to turn to the window to buy some recognised striking options with his new team’s toothlessness in attack. 

Player to watch out for 

Although Everton and Calvert-Lewin are running out of gas and goals - the Englishman has made the most targeted off-the-ball runs in the league this season than any other player in the final-third (224). Unfortunately, Calvert-Lewin’s injuries have taken a massive toll on his playing ability and sent him straight into oblivion. Moyes’ only striker is without a goal in his last 15 appearances for the club. If Everton are to stay in the league, this issue will indeed have to be rectified.

They’ve lost 5 away games against Newcastle, Liverpool, Spurs, Nottingham Forest and Chelsea. It can be argued that those teams carry potential. 

This happens to be Villa’s longest run on the road without a win in a single campaign since 2015-16. A game against struggling Everton is a great opportunity for Emery to break the deadlock. Within his own team, he has made the most successful passes (71), cementing himself as a mainstay in this talented squad. 

Injury - Torres, Barkley, Carlos, Martinez, McGinn and Philogene are all out.

A change of managers is usually said to uplift teams and add wins to the scorecard. David Moyes certainly knows how to do that. But, his opponent is a thorough winner himself. Aston Villa will be milking their opportunity to take something away from this broken Everton squad and ending their dismal away run. As usual, Jordan Pickford is the only player who can highlight Everton’s prowess, but that won’t be enough with Ollie Watkins’ striking abilities.
